Strange whine when cruising at 60mphs

I hear a faint whine coming from the engine (I think) when the car is cruising at around 60mph. It starts when I step on the gas lightly and starts to go away the further I step on the gas. This is 05 AT sedan with 13K miles. It's pretty faint and if the radio is on I cannot hear it. However, it is a lil annoying from time to time. I've had this whine since day 1.

Do you feel vibrations coming from your shifter or through your pedal?

A/C not on, no vibrations thru shifter or pedal.
It's a low pitch whine that doesn't occur all the time, most people don't really hear it unless they pay attention to it.

I have a 04 AT 34k mi and have the same noise comming from the front I thought it was because of my bald tires which I replaced last week and the noise still remains.

It's the large volume of air rushing into the new intake you installed! Just kidding, I don't have this issue in my car that I have noticed. I'll leave the radio off and see if I can duplicate.

I have similar at 70-80... it only started after I installed billet horizontal bars grill, so I have chalked it up to some kind of harmonics from air flow (at the grill)... I had dealer check it out several months back and they said everything is fine... they indicated if it was motor, there would be noise at idle as well.

Anyway, I haven’t had any problems, but like you it annoys me sometimes (even though I'm the only one that hears it)

Since you have heard your whir since the car was new, I doubt it’s the grill (unless you immediately installed aftermarket?)

I always thought it had something to do w/ the airflow in the small inlet the factory airbox has along the grill (the thin narrow strip). If anyone figures this out, please post. I get it at various speeds and it too goes away when I step on the gas.

Good to know I wasn't imagining things!!
PS: My car is completely stock. Must be something related with the intake system......
