Performance diffs between X and RWD?

I was born here, so I'm use to it and haven’t found anywhere in the country that I could see myself moving to. But I agree - it is WAY over priced!
As far as the pretty women?... like anywhere it depends on where you look... I work with many people in TX - been there a couple of times... I guess I was in the wrong place. But I'm sure there are good looking women there somewhere (actually the clerk at the hotel was kinda hot!)
Cali Rocks but the women in Texas are incredible. And the X rocks if you want to build and is a helluva platform from which to build a race car but I'll be ok with my barely 3300 pound RWD that with a couple of chassis tweaks drives like a tossable gem.

its really cool, you can whip it around the corner, but you wont over over steer.

Thank God we got back on track of the original post. I'm really interested in opinions of the X since I own a RWD. I still think that RWD is more fun than AWD. BUT with the X's rear bias, it might change my mind about an AWD G having never driven one. Maybe my next G will be an X since I just bought an 06 RWD sedan. Had an 05 but wrecked it, badly I might add. And its like someone posted a few pages ago, if you want to feel a RWD from an X "just pull the fuse"

I have an 06x, while I was having my spoiler and clearbra installed I got an 04 rwd. I couldnt tell a huge difference in handling but they felt different. My X seems much more solid, the steering is tighter and less sloppy and the transmission is much better.
Sometime I will get an 05 rwd loaner. That should be a better comparison.

The X has the same tranny as differenced possibly being attributed to the TCM's flash version.
The X does feel more, I won't say solid, but the extra weight is giving the impression of a more solid ride. The spring rates are different as well so the X should feel slightly different.
Not sure how the steering is going to feel different. Never driven a sloppy RWD. I sense a tad bit of bias from the last poster. Anyone else driviven a sloppy RWD G? LOL

Hard for me to say. I'm coming from a 1992 maxima. Although it had every suspension mod + all the suspension bushings replaced, even the stock G35 non-sport sedan was MILES ahead in handling and feel.

And the steering... My steering is much lighter than the wife's car. We both have the exact same tires, but I'm running a set of 18x8.5s that weigh 23.4lbs each, and she's running a set of 18" coupe wheels(unsure on weight). My steering is orders of magnitude lighter than hers; as a result, it's very snappish. They are both equally communicative. Sometimes I prefer the heft in her steering; my steering's twichiness allows for a bit of on-center play, where she has none.
Trey, agreed that it is no BMW, this RWD G of mine. But the X is not that different structurally as to improve the mentioned issues either. Perhaps you would find the value that I have in the stiffer sway (as you mentioned the lateral roll) which help body roll tremendously at higher speeds.
Also, I hate to sell products and not get paid but the GT spec bars are wonderful at tightening up the chassis and reducing some of the slop by adding tontional rigidity. THe bars add a feeling of solidness that the X has naturally and also they can make the car a tad twitchy or super responsive. The feedback I get from the steering wheel is enhanced and changed a bit from the tight feel that comes stock.
As for your and Trey's Wife's steering differences. I can't imagine why anyone would prefer the stock feeling, which seems artificially heavy over the lighter steering feel you describe from installing lighter wheels. I would not like the funky off center play but I'm sure they look better and they are lighter.

I'd love to get the tie braces; I've been eyeing them for a while now. But Vodka just found out they don't fit with the Stillen gen1 exhaust, which I have.
And I've been thinking about the sways for a while. Hell, I've been thinking about a complete suspension replacement for a while. Front strut brace, the gtspec lateral bars, the 4 point brace, sways, and adjustable height/damping coils.
At that point, the car would cease to be an Infiniti, and likely be too stiff and jittery to drive day to day.
And to round out the suspension, I've been thinking about some Motegi Traklite wheels. The 19's are forged, and although they're skinny for 19's( 7.5" ), they only weigh 18 pounds. With kumho mx's, sized 245/35/19 weigh only 24 pounds, for a total of 42 pounds at each corner. With that setup, one could save between 32 and 40 pounds of unsprung weight. Add in the wilwood bbk up front for even more savings. Now *that* would be a jittery car that would hide it's 3500lb heft quite well.

The argument for a AWD vs. A 6 MT is acedemic for me. The one thing the X takes away is the fun of driving a manual- which for most driving enthusiasts IS driving. Sure, those with AT can have fun pointing their car in a certain direction and hit it.... Or, you can add a pedal, loose the Intelligent Key (I like a real key), get a handbrake, and a few more ponies. But, they are all G's and I love every last one of them... Just prefer the "driver's G."
i love going around a rotary . it handles like its on rails. the car will correct its self if you noob it. . the only other AWD SYSTEM that is better , would be audi's QUATTRO system, thats the shizz.
