I think it's time for Infiniti to snag some BMW wheel and tire engineers/stylists. The wheel style and tire size on the new G35 is disappointing. Why are they going with such large diameter tire setups? The new 18" tire package is dang near 27" tall and in such odd sizes. A BMW with 18s typically has a tire thats around 25.5" tall. Not only does it look better, it also handles better. Same goes for the wheels. Why must they use such a ho-hum design and narrow width? We all know wheels make or break the styling of a car. The 07 G35's rims are about as boring as you can get. Most BMWs come with amazing looking rims for OEM. I wonder why Infiniti can't do the same? This is their sportiest model within the company. For Christ sakes make the damn wheels match the aggressive lines of the body.

Also lower that DAMN front end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I find it amusing that the initial press release photos of the G35 show about 1" gaps, both front and rear. Then the production models come out with fist-sized front wheel gaps If ride quality is the issue (hence the reason for the raised front end), then push the shock towers 2" higher into the body to keep the wheel travel and drop the car. BMW seems to have figured it out, why can't Infiniti?

End of rant.

^^^^ I completely agree. While I don't think the wheels on the new G are horrendous or anything, I certainly think there is a lot of room for improvement. I agree with you that they are not aggressive looking enough. The wheels that I have seen on the new 335i look amazingly nice.

The sedans look great, except why does it seem the front wheel arch is significantly larger than the rear wheel arch?

Exactly!!
BMW shock towers are much higher under the hood.
& there's tons of room under the G35 hood to engineer them higher.

No question wheel gaps on all OE G's including the '07 are excessive.

DaveB you are dead on the money about that and the solutions. Rant appreciated.

I totally agree w/ you on this issue. This is a problem w/ practically EVERY Nissan/Infiniti offering. The front wheel gap on a M35/45 looks bad and the Q45 looks like it's dragging it's *** around town. The problem is typically exacerbated when lowering springs are installed. Even though the springs may claim to lower the front 1/4" more than the rear, most of the time, it looks like the rear is tucking tire w/ the front still having a gigantic wheel gap.

I'd get coilovers so I could set the front height exactly where I want it to be in relationship to the rear.
