VQ35HR 1 sec faster to 60mph!?

Us "No Way"

Nissan "Watch this"

http://response.jp/issue/2006/0822/article85094_1.html

Somehow the new 306hp will propel the next gen G35 to 60mph 1 full second faster than the current 280hp G35? Keep in mind the current G35 sedan can do 0-60 in 6 seconds and 1/4 mile in around 14.5.

That's nuts.

If this info is no exaggeration, then we are looking at a 13.5 quarter mile time or faster. One thing is for sure, the new G35 sedan even with auto tranny will run down the Lexus IS350 and BMW 330i. For the moment the BMW 335i is in another performance level all together, and will probably severly cripple the sales of the upcoming IS500.

Of course, then the VQ37HR will be out next year and hopefully coupled with a whole new Nissan transmission to pull the rugs under its competitor's feet.

The 07 G sedan still has a 5AT doesn't it?
Hard to believe that the extra 26 hp can do so much. (when they were saying 80% new...they weren't kidding)
Any news on the torque?

The higher overall gear ratio along with the increase in power contributed to the lower 0-60 and 1/4-mile time. It could have been so much more if the new G didn't gain 200 lbs.

Keep in mind the Motor Trend test was done under very humid condition at moderately high temperature. Still, the 03-05 G35 sedan could already do 0-60 in 5.8 seconds, I seriously doubt it's remotely possible for the 07 to pull it off in 4.8 second. (Seriously, that would be ridiculous for a entry level luxury sport sedan *_*)

Simply going off of what Motor Trend has reported, which was 3604 lbs.

The gear ratio doesn't seem to be that much more aggressive than the 1st gen G35. It said it was 3.69 for the 6MT what was the gear ratio for the 1st gen model 6MT's? I think this is a mistake when the IS350 has a 4.10 rear gear ratio which is a real performance ratio and effectively gives the IS350 a 2 tenth advantage in the 1/4 mile.

My '04 6mt Sedan, as is, + me + 1/4 tank gas - spare = 3600 lbs (on 3 occassions when I was corner balancing). On the track its mass is already quite substantially felt. The thought of even more weight irks me.

Last gen MT final drive ratio was 3.54

That equates to a 4.24% increase in rear wheel torque to the ground with little to no lost of early shifting (thanks to higher red line). Still, the IS350 have a slight edge.
