For those with experience with this car ('06 and earlier), how much stiffer is the sport suspension? I want this to be the best of all worlds car. Fast, handler, that is quiet and smooth on the road...Although not offering the 18's on the base car as an option kind of sucks!

As much as I'd like to get a new G35, I'll just have to stick with mine for another 4 years or so. My wife gets the next newer car (05 Legacy GT wagon) and I will most likely get a 3rd car for drag racing/auto-x. Most likely an 89-93 Mustang LX notchback 5.0, 02 Bullitt, or a 96-97 Camaro SS.
I think the new G35 is a steal and they've improved everything that needed help.

Well, like many, I'm torn between the X and the 6MT sport. I'd like the fun factor of the stick, but like the AWD capability and security. I could probably get buy without it here in SE Michigan, but it might be nice for trips up North. One thing that worries me is if there are going to be any deletions on the 6MT over the AT cars, like smart key start or the power tilt/telescope dash. Can't recall where, but I heard that those thing might be lacking on the 6MT?? If thats true, I'll probably get the X or an Auto.
I'm really just going to have to see them in person and drive them. As far as options go, probably premium and Nav. Don't really need Nav, but I'm sure it will come in handy from time to time and bee a "cool" feature, plus I want that 9+GB audio server hard drive!!

By getting the 6MT, they only thing you are giving up is the paddle shifters and the rear A/C vents....that's it. You will still get the intelligent key with the 6MT. Originally Posted by mikepro

Shane, you're going to love the power/memory tilt/telescoping wheel, so much nicer than that handle on the '03-'04! Originally Posted by canuck

Most definitely Tom. I am going to like the outside mirrors being a part of the memory settings as well. I am always adjusting them after my wife drives the car.Originally Posted by ABQ_G35

It's safer for everyone else on the road that I drive automatic... I couldn't imagine trying to remember where the clutch, gas and brake are, shift gears and drive all at the same time. It'd make it almost impossible to eat and txt msg!

Well, that's good to know. I could care less about rear vents. Most frequent rider back there is my dog, and she greatly prefers the windows down. So, it will probably come down to the X or 6MT for me. Not sure on colors. I've been wanting a blue car lately, (I love the bright blue on the new BMW 335). Not sure how the Infiniti blues will compare. I also like the silver, especially how it hides the chrome spolier. I also want tosee the aluminum and rosewod in person to see how those look.
I must admit, an auto is kind of nice for convenience sake, but the stick would be (usually) more fun to drive. One thing I worry a bit about the stick is what it will ytake to drive it civilized? I've driven a Mazda SPEED6 a couple of times. That card had lots of power/torque, and the clutch engagement point was really high in the pedal release. It was difficult to drive smoothly in lower speed traffic. Also, with the short gearing and all of the power, it really needed to be short shifted, or to skip a gear to avoid lots of head jerks. Hopefully the G will be much better. Actually, I'm sure just more time/experience would yield smoothness.

So, the magnesium paddle shifters will only be available on the sport model initially as well. Thats too bad.

Yep, that is correct. I highly doubt Infiniti will ever offer the paddle shifters outside of the Sports package.Originally Posted by griffey222

Damn! You mean you can't get the paddle shifters (and probably not the dashboard gear indicator either?) with the Manual transmission?! Originally Posted by canuck

The blue onyx G in the Lennox, MA thread looks really nice. That would be a great choice IMO. For me, it was a toss up between the Garnet Ember and Ivory Pearl. I really like Ivory Pearl and is very easy to keep clean. I chose Garnet Ember because I have always been a fan of red and I think it looks a little sportier. I really wanted the rosewood trim on the inside but it is not available with the sport package. Hopefully the aluminum trim looks good in person.Originally Posted by mikepro
