Why no revised or updated transmission for the 07 G35?

You'll have to forgive Chilibowl - the only thing dysfunctional is his use of the English language

I bought an 06 G35X as only my second automatic after many years of manuals. I still do not like how it shifts for an automatic. I certainly hope the 07 is better in this regard. It takes forever to decide to shift once it starts...
If not, I'll need to go back to manual. Is there a release date on an 07 G35X manual?

I've been wondering the same for quite some time. Nissan already has a 6speed automatic in the Euro only Nissan Qashqai http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...d=116752?imw=Y
The Renault concept at the Paris auto show (forgot the name) has a 7speed automatic transmission. My guess:
2009 G37 (refresh) with a 6speed auto. 2008 M37/55 with a 7speed auto

I wish Nissan would put direct injection in the VQ; more power and efficiency.

Day & night difference in quick, smooth & firm shifting. (yes, I've driven it)
Many testers have commented SMG?... fogedaboudit.
I was holding out hope that BMW was going to bring out a DSG type tranny.
But this new auto is damn close.
I'm going back to 6mt this time, but would have no problem going to the new auto either.
I know the Infiniti auto is slightly improved since my '04, but I would not be happy with the same unit.
I think this an area that they are falling behind in.
Hopefully they have something in the works.

In the age of the six-, seven- and now eight-speed automatics, the Infiniti's transmission, with only five forward gears, may seem behind the times. But the five-speed's proper gearing, attentive action and ability to match revs perfectly when manually downshifted makes the transmission a standout and the perfect choice for this very capable sport sedan. It delivers all of the hard-driving advantages of BMW's complex sequential manual gearbox (SMG) without any of that transmission's drivability issues.

I had two questions... the 6sp auto was one and the other was...
why not direct port injection ??? better gas mileage & performance.
the only answer i thought resonable is that it provides them an upgrade path for the 2nd gen of the G cars...
2008 Gen 2 w/G37 released...
2009 6sp auto & alittle more hp...
2010 direct port injection
just bs but thats what im figuring.

I do everyday. It's not as if shifting and clutch in and out aren't things you just do without thinking like everything else. In an automatic you still have two pedals that constantly need interaction, you still have to steer. You're looking in your mirrors and using turn signals (optional in Alabama of course) and whatnot. In other words, you still do a lot of things to drive.
In an MT you just have two more things you're doing.
Now, I think if you want to buy a AT that's you right. I just don't by the traffic arguement as a reason not to get one. If you're the type of guy that would only drive an MT you're going to get it even if you live in a high traffic area (and trust me, Tallahassee traffic sucks, I've lived in NY for most my life and while there are more people and cars there, the infrastructure was also superior in terms of flow and layout). And if you don't want to drive a MT or can't, you won't get one.

I will definitely be giving the auto a test drive if the shifting is faster in both modes.

I have *never* experienced an AT even close to the way this one performs.
