Thanks, but....
Yeah, that's been arround the block & beat to death on the BMW forums already.

Pretty sure it's electronics/calibration issues.
There was no problem with the engine itself.

Part of 1st year bugs I guess.

Hmmm, maybe I'll start a thread called "Before you purchase a G35 read my Lemon-Law settlement case". I could e-mail you my laundry list of issues w/my '05 G35x, but I'm not sure you have a mailbox big enough. Besides, it's a little vague as to what he was actually doing other than beating the **** out-of-it on the autobohn. Not saying it's not possible that the 335i overheated; I’m sure it did, but most any car given the right circumstances can be brought to its knees.

I has an '02 M3 and there were also reports of SMG overheating issues as well - but when you actually look at the factors that people were doing that encountered this situation, you knew why it happened.

I would stay away from a first year BMW, especially since this powertrain is quite potent and different for BMW.

It's really bizarre--because I've seen so much about the 335 here, I'm beginning to seriously consider it. Make no mistake, 46k insults my pocketbook. Before the new G35S was announced, I was fully prepared to get a 330i for around 44. But visions of a Japanese car with more HP, faster, more modern, etc. at hopefully 6k below that did wonders for my comfort level.

There is one thing that a buyer has to do that a lessee does not--live with his decision for 8-10 yrs. Everyone who knows me is telling me to buy the 335 or nothing. Don't settle. They claim that 38k is a lot to spend (on the G35S) for something that will not satisfy my desire for the ultimate driving machine. Even my significant other is telling me to get the 335 (although she claims it will help me to find someone else, which she is against *lol*).

It's so strange that a G35 forum can steer people towards a BMW.

Before you decide to visit any internet forum, remember that rumors spread faster than herpes at a hooker-convention.

Many of us are still on the fence with this decision, for obvious reasons. I'd suggest going now to test drive a 335i (if you haven't already done so), and if you really like it, negotiate your best deal with today's numbers, and put a "refundable" deposit on one so the BMW dealer can order one now with your specifications. This will almost definitely take at leats 6-8 weeks for the car to be delivered to the dealer. At which time, the Infiniti G35 "should" be at your Infiniti dealer (in Nov.), and then you can test drive that too for comparison purposes. Only then will you have enough information (and gut feelings ) to make an informed, intelligent decison. Just going on what other ppl say online isn't good enough...YOU and only you need to know firsthand what you'll be the happiest driving. This is what I'm doing , and what many others here are doing as well.

btw - Right now, my gut says that I'll end up with the BMW 335i, but the G35 Sedan may wow me enough in Nov. to say forget the Bimmer; the G35 is for me (for the 2nd time).
