A salesman told me that the demand for the 2007 G35 was really high and almost all of the cars they had coming in were pre-sold. When I looked at the allocations, only 3 out of roughly 30 cars were sold. Very high demand, huh? Then I asked him about what kind of deals were going around and he said that all 2007 G35's are firmly at MSRP. Then my dad added that he doesn't want me to buy the 2007 G35 because he likes the 2007 Lexus GS better and would rather buy me that. A millisecond later the salesman says that there are deals, but we'd have to talk about it and asked me to step into his office. Haha. Needless to say, I didn't listen to a word he said after that. I don't like it when people aren't honest with me the first time. Don't waste my time with BS because I don't want to waste yours.

I was with my sister when she bought her 2006 ES330 back in Nov. of 2005 and I'll tell you Lexus does give you first class treatment... salesman doesn't talk needlessly, just answers questions etc...

That was probably more to do with your sister being present

Local auto dealers were my largest customers in my previous employment of 20+ years. My current business deals exclusively with auto dealer so I have a fair bit of experience with them.

Experiences will differ invariably between dealers and delaer groups, between managers, and especially between salespeople, as well as brand. It's my experience that no one brand is far superior to another. The difference is the particular person you're dealing with no matter where they're working. I generally find import brands to have better trained sales staff and service than the domestics.

I completely agree Deane. Every brand of vehicle will have certain dealers and certain salesguys within those dealers that are uneducated and like to talk out of their @ss. In fact, from my experience EVERY industry has examples of this. The Data Networking industry is just as bad or worse.

About a year ago my friends parents decided that they were both interested in purchasing a Lexus. They made a trip to the showroom and were "greeted" by a sales person who fortunately knew more about their financial situation than even their accountant. On the upside he was willing to show them a Toyota that was more in their price range. They are a trendy couple that owns and operates a successful advertising firm; as such you will rarely find them wearing a business suit.

It doesn't matter where you go, there are good sales people, bad sales people and those that are driven only by the all mighty buck. This will happen whether you are purchasing a G or the new Sony Bravia LCD.

Fortunately we have access to so much information from sources other than the sales team (especially G35driver.com). With this information we can make our own informed decisions, and after that we can find a sales person who is willing to earn our business through world class customer service.
