So much for Sales Managers knowing their product...

I emailed the Infiniti of Tacoma Sales Manager and asked him if they're getting any IP/Graphite G35 Sports coming in... he replies:

Infiniti isn't offering the 2007 G35 Sedan Ivory Pearl w/ Graphite Interior... how shall we procede?

So tomorrow I am printing the Specs posted on the Infiniti website and taking it in with me and asking him why his information is different from the info given on the website lol...

Learn your product before you try to sell it!!!

I wasn't too impressed with Infiniti sales, to tell you the truth, it was no different than buying my Nissan. And in the end, the high pressure what do I have to do to sell you a car today part.

It was quite different with the BMW, the saleswoman knew every feature on the 335, and this was in early Oct. She had to have been trained to know every single detail on the car. After 1 hr of driving it, she never mentioned selling the car until I brought it up. Very different, and it worked on me, the car, not the saleswoman, sold the vehicle. I called the 800# yesterday because the web shows in production and has a VIN assigned, and they are very polite and said the car is now in the body shop as of Tuesday, and will reach the paint shop very shortly, then 3 stages of assy., and port of exit. Everything is done with white gloves, so I guess at least one gets something for the extra $8,700 eh?

The salesperson that I talked with last night said that the new G puts out 306 hp to the wheels. I tried to politely correct him by asking, "You mean 306hp at the crank, right?"
"No; at the wheels." he confidently responded. He then went on to say that there's a new law which states that car manufacturers must state wheel hp/tq ratings instead of engine ratings(or something like that).

Kinda makes one wonder how (or IF) these people are actually quizzed & tested before they're sent onto the showroom floor.......

Hello,
It's bothersome how little people know their own product and what they will do for a sale. I confronted the GM of the an Infiniti dealer in NYC as he was making stuff up during the launch event last night.

I was sitting in the back of the sample car inside the showroom, he was sitting next to me in the back. A young couple were sitting in the front who he was trying to sell the car to. The young man said that they were leaning towards an A4 since he wanted a manual, but she had to have all-wheel drive. The GM said that there was an option that made the 6MT an 'X' describing it as "all wheel steering which provides power to the front and rear wheels that acts a all wheel drive".

At this point I had to step in and point out that this was false, and that the steering package that he was talking about doesn't provide power to all four wheels like the 'X' system does. He then told me that he was a product expert and that he had personally seen the affects of this system. He declined to elaborate as to where. He also mentioned that the G35 6MT actually has closer to 330bhp but that Infiniti decided to downplay the rating inorder to raise the numbers next year without having to retool the engine. I was not able to argue this since I haven't driven the car and haven't dropped one onto a dyno.

I spoke to the couple afterwards for quite some time and they agreed that they will go to another dealer and test drive the 6MT, and the X to see which one they would rather have. It turned out that the girl works for a Big 4 firm and that she had asked the GM about the VPP plan. He told her that the new G35 would never be eligible for VPP so they might as well buy it now.

It was quite disgusting.

That's a terrible experience and a shame you had to experience it. Fortunately you have other dealership options.

My dealership is very different and I'm lucky since they're the only one for about 5-600 miles. At the intro night I had the sales manager, the GM saying I probably knew more than them and others at the dealership since I followed the car closely online. They joked that I should help them with the presentation since the salesman who hurt his foot that day wasn't available and someone had to sub in for him.

What irritated me was repeated phone calls about 2k6's when I wanted a 2k7. The guy sounded desparate, because his offer right off the bat was 4,500 off list. When I finally got the message through to him that I only want a 2k7, I never heard from the dealership again, until their so-called launch party. Again, I think of Infiniti as being the high-end Nissan, so I think sales should reflect it. I don't know first hand, but an office mate claims Lexus dealerships give you the first class treatment. Why can't Infiniti do that??
