I took delivery of a 2007 G35x Auto today, Platinum Graphite on Graphite, Tech, Nav, Prem, Wood.

A few comments. The color seems a bit darker and less metal-like than the diamond graphite. Leather seems a bit softer too.

Coming from a 2003 G35 sedan with nav, I am very much impressed with the speed and usabilty of the new Nav. Interior is beautiful. Surfaces all seem higher quality than my 2003.

I haven't gunned it yet, but torque seems adequate, if not overwhelming, below 3500 rpm. One nice surprise is the trans. After driving a 335i, I was quite impressed with the BMW's manumatic shift speed, especially downshifts, and I was worried that the G would dissappoint. Well, the G's auto trans downshifts like lightening, certainly as quick as the 335's. I haven't attempted to get the trans to downshift into very high rpm's yet, only up to 5000. I hope it will snap right up to near redline. Rev matching is very noticeable as compared to my 2003. The upshifts under easy throttle were not very quick, but that might change when I start giving her more throttle.

Tomorrow i'm having the 3M bra put on, (gotta give her up for a few hours )

So far I am quite happy with my purchase.

One more thing...
The backup cam is amazing. The screen shows two sets of lines: one where the wheels will go if the car continues straight back, (after straightening the steering wheel), another set, an arc, show where the car will go with the current postion of the steering wheel.

I can back up into any spot easily.

Funny story. I was backing into a spot in WaWa, (a convenience store, ) and a local cop was watching me slowly edge up to a barrier. He looked likehe wanted to talk to me, (probably suspected DUI, ) so I rolled down the window. He says, "You okay? You have like 10 feet behind you." I explained that the car was new and that I was playing with the backup camera. He said, "Backup camera? Oh..." And then, as he drove away, he wished me good luck with the new car. I think I heard a little disappointment in his voice.

I'll take a few tomorrow and post. I've seen other pics posted here of the Platinum Graphite, but after seeing the car today, I have to say that the color looks a bit different than in teh pics. I did see it parked right next to a Diamond graphite, and mine is definitely a little darker, with less sheen, for lack of a better word. I actually like the DG better because of the metallic look. The salesman summed up the new PG color as "more luxurious" looking. I have to agree.

I am glad you like the new tranny. Someone did say the G35 new tranny tends to "bang" into gear but I wasn't sure what he meant by "banging" into gears. Maybe when you have a chance to drive the car a little harder, you can either confirm or shed some of your own opinions.
Thanks.

Hey Rocky.... congratz on the new ride.
With the RVM, as you back up... can you tell how close you are to something behind you?

Yes. There are color coded hash marks, about three of them I think. I'll have to check the manual to see what they represent. For instance, one is red, and I believe that means that you are about one foot away.

Yes it's a very slick system...better than I thought it would be. Three yellow lines and the red one I believe. At the red you are about one foot away. You are also able to determine how parallel you are in your parking spot.

There are 3 colors: Red-1.5 ft, Yellow-3 ft & Green-7 & 10 ft. The system works like the M's.

The 2007 AWD is quieter
Inside the cabin, there is less engine noise then my 2003 G. Kind of surprised since many have said the Sport has more grumble, almost like the coupe.

Even the salesman noticed it. For me, that's okay, as my 2003 roars a bit even below 3000 rpm's, and it kind of wears on me. The 2007 is fairly quite. So was the 335i I drove. Only heard that engine when engine went over 4000 or so.
