Last week I called a dealer and the sales guy said 6MTs wouldn't be out for a while and gave me some lame story.

Another sales guy from another dealer three days later calls me and said he has one for me to test drive. I did so and enjoyed it, but not sure about the color or options.

Anyway, he might be able to get me a black one with the options I want, but I am not sure I want to pay sticker.

Anyway, what is the current availablity of 6MTs in your area?

You were lucky to find one to drive. It's easier to find a Playstation 3 for sale than a 6MT in the Sacramento area.

If your deаler can find an MT equipped the way you like, fine, but I wouldn't count on it unless you want black with black and a spoіler. For anything else I would just do a factory order. Can't help you on the price question, except to speculate that MTs are likely to go for sticker longer than ATs simply because of their scarcity in relation to demand.

I drove a platinum graphite 6MT Sport with everything except a spoiler and 4WS. Not sure about the color and also really disappointed with the features on the stereo(no transfer of MP3s and a CD changer????). Plus, I don't want a sunroof.

There was a black with everything except the navigation & spoiler, and 4WS. Oh neither had the mud flaps.

Also, does Infiniti ever ship cars with zero miles on the odometer? My 2000 Honda S2000 was delivered with literally zero miles on the odometer, and I got it off the lot. That made me very happy..

I really doubt it. When I went to pickup my FX it had a Quality Control Inspection sheet signed by one of the Japanese techs and he put 5 miles. I suspect it is the same for all the cars.

I had to order mine as well. I am told best case scenario is the end of Jan. Worst, March.

I'd like to know more about this process--when you order it, what do you get showing your order? Any printout from a computer system from Infiniti, showing your options and your name?? And something showing the production date?

I'm puzzled by this Jan., maybe Mar. That's a huge window, one in which you could be shopping around. I'm so curious about this Infiniti thing that I will go to the dealership and drive one, and then tell them I want to order one with the strangest color combo. BUT with 6MT. Then I will find out what exactly is meant by "I had to order it." I'll report my findings.

I'll tell you what's troubling me--I hope the dealer isn't simply taking an allocation from Infiniti, and then hoping to find something that you want exactly, and swap with another dealer. To date, nobody has revealed how this Infiniti ordering system works. That makes me want to find out on my own even more......

Does it really matter that much to you?? You've already ordered your Bimmer, so why is Infiniti's ordering system troubling you so much?

I watch CSI and this is a mystery that needs to be solved. Jan to Mar, that makes no sense, but is nonetheless a clue. I would like to know that x is how Infiniti's ordering system works. Or, there is no Infiniti ordering system, it's actually dealerships taking deposits and names, and trying to match up sales with what they and other dealerships get off their allocation. As they said in the X Files, the truth is out there.

I saw a 6MT at Sewell in Dallas on Tuesday. Black with Premium. It looked like it had been sold (it was in the service area), but it was just off the truck.

I can ensure you that there is an ordering system. I obviously don't know all of the details...but I can tell you that my car was a custom order just as much as your 335i was. I ordered my G with the color and packages that I wanted, just as you did. I think the only difference between my G order and your Bimmer order is that you know where your car is every step of the way......I do not.

Canuck, I can concur on this. This is my second car I have ordered from Infiniti. They may not have the detailed tracking system like BMW, but it definitely gets special ordered.

Also, I have seen first hand on a computer at a dealership, that at least in my case, there was nothing anywhere in the country at ANY dealership in the US remotely resembling what I wanted, so I definitely know this wasn't a "take a deposit, and wait for allocation" scheme.

It does not help that here in San Antonio we only have one Infiniti dealership.

New to the forum and have been looking around for some time, but thought I might chime in now to share my order experience. We only have one dealer here as well, who told me upfront that they will not be ordering ANY 6mt sedans for their regular stock. I called several regional dealers to inquire about their stock and ordering through them but none of the 4 in the region I spoke with would budge from MSRP for an order (they would deal a small amount on in stock cars). By the time I figured in travel expenses, it made more sense to order exactly what I wanted. My dealer emailed me the attached pdf showing that he placed the order. Above my car, he listed two orders for the dealership (he told me that those are not special orders for customers but are just their next cars to sell). The order status says firm supl for my order and the dealership order lists them differently. Not sure what the "firm-pass 1" means, but it does appear that my order is different.
Also, he told me to expect around 12 weeks to delivery for whatever that is worth...
