I want to install a new sound system
I will be selling my 96 I30t and will have about $3,500 in hand which I can spend about $1,500 to have a nice system installed in my new 07 G35. I've had systems in my car before, but never had a new car like this, so this time I need to make sure things work nicely with each other (since I will be needing new component speakers due to the stock components sounding cheap)...Do you guys have any place you suggest in or around Los Angeles county that can do a clean job with the whole thing? Also, what can I do about the head unit, I'm not sure if the sound will be great with the stock head unit, but then again I don't think there's a way to change it. Please advise. (BTW I don't have the studio on wheels, and I heard it at the dealer and didn't meet my needs).

My past system was acctually the stock HU and speakers in my 96 I30t (which were absolutely PHENOMINAL) with 2 10" fosgate subs...I didn't like the bass quality of the system, but it was very loud and would blurr your vision. In this car, I want loud *clear* sound with low bass that you don't just bear and say wow that bumps, but bass that shakes your @$$ lol...The most important is that I want a clean install, and my past systems were all put together peice by peice (subwoofer, box, and amp) but this one I will need new components as I said. Do you think the stock HU will have loud enough sound with new component speakers and amps?

I am watching this thread closely, as I am thinking seriously about buying the G without the Bose. The front panels must be big enough to accomdate some big speakers, since the bose system integrated 10" speakers in the door.
You should also look in the setion of this forum dedicated to audio. There is a lot of info in there. Some of thise guys seem to think that you don't need a clean sweep with the stock HU, only with the Bose. Most of them have been able to un an external amp without the cleansweep. Please keep us posted.
BTW, do you know what size speakers the stock system has and where they are located in the cabin?
Thanks

I'm trying to figure out how you guys are going to bypass the 7" display. Bypassing the factory speaker wiring and direct connect the OEM video display to the HU is easy.
The problem is... what if you bypass the factory 7" display interface altogether for the sake of dropping in an aftermarket system or even a CarPC (VGA display)?

I'll stick with the stock HU and go with amps for the new component speakers...stock HU sounds like crap with the volume anything above 80% (the last 3 bars sounds distorted). When I sell my other car I'll drop the money into this one and get it going...This one is a lease, but who care, you live once Jay Spec thanks for the numbers! I'll be calling. Have you dealt with any of those ppl yourself?

aalbert, i'm up here in norcal, so i've never had the pleasure of dealing directly with either of them. however, i can tell you they are both recommended by many of the audio guys in socal. specifically, devin oliver has done some amazing work and comes highly recommended by many of the guys that compete (and place) in iasca sound competitions around the nation. after seeing examples of his work, i would not hesitate to have him do an install if i were closer
