In pictures on the internet vs. in front of your face in real life are two totally different things - I was also of the "20's are too big for the G" mindset when I purchased my previous wheels two years ago - after seeing several G's (both coupes and sedans) with 20" wheels, my mind was forever changed and that's why I'm pretty gung-ho that 20's are going to be both the most popular and the best looking combination for the '07 sedan...

I saw the 07 sedan for the first time today. It is gorgeous and a HUGE improvement over the previous sedan. It is also a bigger car and I believe 20's will look really good on it.

You're comparing apples and oranges. The Porsche and the Ferrari already come w/ lower profile and much shorter tires stock. Additionally, because those cars are much smaller and have wheel wells that are not cut as high as on the G35, a stock 18" or 19" rim on those cars will naturally look much bigger. Furthermore, the OEM wheels on those cars do not have deep dish lips on them.

A 2006 911 Carrera comes w/ stock 235-40-18 tires up front. That is pretty low profile already and has an overall height of 25.4". The 2006 G35 comes w/ a front tire of 235-45-18 = 26.33" tall and the 2007 G35 is even taller w/ a front tire of 225-50-18 = 26.86".

If you were to run 20" rims/tires on the Porsche, you would have to resort to a tire size like 235-30-20 which has a very thin sidewall. It would also look ridiculous - like you're driving on rubber bands.

On the otherhand, the 07 G35, which has a stock tire that is about 1.5" taller than the Porsche's stock tire, you can run a 20" tire size like a 245-35-20 which will give you more sidewall protection than the 235-30-20 on the Porsche. In fact, the 245-35-20 tire will provide you with a noticeably thicker sidewall and more rim protection than on a stock Ferrari F430 which runs 225-35-19 up front.

Well if decisions were already bad enough now i got people telling me not to go chrome. I dont know if thats an option because im a sucker for shiny wheels. But i am going to look for silver wheels as well, I have a few possibilities but nothing is for sure yet. Keep in mind these will be strictly summer tires so ride and performance is important. I do also know that rubber is important,

What kind of tires do you guys run on your after market rims? How do you like them?

Max I'd go is 19, have in mind that bigger wheel=more rotating mass so you're taking some out of performance. Another thing is how easely they could get damaged running on low profile tires. Now regarding design I hate to tell you that but those rims with lip are just plain outdated and dont look good anymore, design of cars been evolving and seeing those getto rides with big chrome lips just dont match together. I dig something like BBS CH or VOLK Progress TE now those are work of art and design. To each his own I guess

Based on Railgunner's experience w/ his rims, those offsets are too low and will not work at all and you will get major rubbing on the fender and the tires will stick out of the wheel well.

If you get the correct offsets, the tire sizes that match the stock 07 G tires' rolling diameter the best would be:

F: 245-35-20
R: 275-30-20 or 285-30-20

he said on a coupe, fwiw... which doesn't belong in this thread at all...

Again, I hate the "rotating mass" argument when we're talking about a 3500lb sports sedan... and I think Railgunner's pictures show my opinion is correct - 19's are just too small visually for the sedan...

I'm not so sure about the wheels looking small as opposed to the overall diameter of the tires vs. the fenderwell openings. If the car is dropped then
it will look like the wheels fill the fenderwell which I think makes the wheels look bigger.

I'll say this, I thought 20"s would look too big but after seeing the 19"s on the car, I think it can easily handle 20"s. Tires would be cheaper for sure.
