20" or 19" wheels?
I have a 07' G35 and was looking into wheels for it. I would like to go 20" but i am afraid of rubbing and a horrible ride. Does anyone know if i will experience this? I want to stay away from both. Would 19's be a better choice? If anyone has pics of a non-lowered G with 20's please post....
Thanks in advance..

Well, I was faced with the same dilema and I decided to go with 19 inch wheels. I'm no expert but here's what went into my decision...
A few pros for the 19's... The 20 inch wheels are heavier and then there's the issue of sidewall. With 19's you have an inch more sidewall. The less sidewall you have the less air there is in the tire. This means if you get a leak the tire will go from full to riding on the RIMS very quickly. This is something to think about since you can't run the G35's Tire Pressure Sensors on most aftermarket 2 and 3 piece wheels. The extra inch of sidewall on the 19's is also an extra inch between the RIMS and the manhole cover waiting
to warp your RIM
Larger RIMS does not = more performance. If that was true they would run
20 inch wheels for road racing. They don't.
Also, at some point the larger RIMs starting looking a little "ghetto" or at best start to look like something you would expect to see on Robocop or Judge Dread's ride (an inch of tread wrapped around a really big rim). This starts to radically change the look of the car. Guess that's ok if that's what you are into.
The cons on 19 inch wheels are that while 18 inch OEM wheels are pretty common, and the ghettos are full of 20 inch wheels, 19 inch OEM wheels are relatively rare and usually are found on high end sports cars (Ferarri's, etc). The tire makers know this and price 19 inch tires accordingly. It's not uncommon to see the same tire for $150 in 18 inch, $200 in 20 inch, and $300 in 19 inch.
FYI... If you're planning on getting aftermarket wheels for you 2007 Sedan, be very careful about offsets. The cars are so new that's there's very little info about what wheels will work. I got different recommendations about offsets from just about every place I called. I ended up lucking out and Mackin had the wheels I wanted in stock. Will the offsets work? Depends on who you ask. I'll find out soon.

FYI for what it's worth... here's a repost with the wheel sizes and offsets
I ended up going with. Not sure this will work because I don't have the wheels on the car yet...
19 inch Volk SF Challenge's, 8.5F, 9.5R
OEM 18 inch RIMS on the Sport are:
-Front 18" x 7.5" with 45mm offset
-Rear 18" x 8.5" with 50mm offset
The Volk 19 inch RIMS I got are:
-Front 19" x 8.5" with 34 mm offset
-Rear 19" x 9.5" with 40 mm offset
Using the offset calculator at http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp my new wheels will have:
-Front = -2mm inner clearance, +24mm outer clearance
-Rear = -3mm inner clearance, +23mm outer clearance
So basically the front and rear tires will "stick out" a little less than an inch more than stock 18's. Increasing the offset makes the tires not stick out as much BUT you start losing inner clearance.
The -2mm less inner clearance on the front should not be a problem. Eyeballing tells me there's probably about an inch clearance between the
stock 7.5 inch front rim and the suspension.

looks like alot of people on here are anti 20's. I thought that might be the case since i had a feeling 20's would give the car a matchbox car look like those other ridiculous cars. Im going to look into 19's more, maybe i can find something nice. How do the factory 19's ride on the 03-06 models? They ruin the ride or complement it? Thanks..
