I definitely feel that the heated seats in an '03 fully loaded loaner I was given awhile ago heated faster and hotter than the ones in my '04 FX.

I was hoping to use the poll, but I think a lot of non 2007 owners voted. So I'm going to bring this thread with my new data to the dealer, this afternoon.

Today, I did a comparision of the seat heaters in my Tahoe vs my 2007 G35x. I used my infrared heat sensor, in close enough range to determine the heat of the seat in about a 1/4-1/2 inch spot of the seat. I turned on the seat heaters in both cars, and took measurements in about 8 spots on each seat versus a specific time, and looked for the hotest spot. To spare everyone from the gory deatails and measurements, here is the summary.

Outside temperature in the low 50's (F). And starting seat temperatures were 55-62 in the Tahoe and 51-60 in the G. (It's amazing the temp change on the different spots of the seats, the side of the seat getting the sun was up to 9 degrees warmer than the other side of the seat). The Tahoe was on the sunny side of the driveway.

In the Tahoe after 6 minutes, the spots where the seat heaters seemed to run averaged in the low-mid 90s (F), with the hotest spot at 101.

In the G35, after 6 minutes, the average temp was in the low 60s with the hotest spot at 70. After 15 minutes in the G35, the hotest spot was 78, with the averages around 69.

EvenfForgetting the comparison to the Tahoe, it seems that my seat heaters are just about worthless.

I'll let everyone know what the dealer says.

Great job with the test. Nothing like having your ducks in a row.

Good luck.

Spec on the Infiniti seat heaters at their top setting should be 80F. So yes, they're weaker than weak, but they do work if they're set properly and left on to heat up for a bit.

The seat heaters in my Audi TT can fry an egg. They get SUPER hot if you crank them all the way up. That may have skewed my frame of reference but my G35 seat heaters are barely noticable.

Does anyone know if there is a sensor determining if a seat is occupied, and turning off the heater accordingly?

I'm driving an 06 g35x loaner right now and the seat heaters are great, almost as piping hot as the ones on my Z. Wifes 06 FX35 are unreal, in fact you can never use the high setting, they get that hot.

Will report back on the 07 ones

Yes, all cars have thermostats controlling the seat heaters allowing them to reach temp and cycle on/off as necessary.

This is the first car I've had with heated seats. I rarely use the high setting. Low works very well in my car.
