someone rear ended my week and a half old G35!!
I need to arrange pick up from the tow lot to the body shop tomorrow. I'll take pics at the body shop and post them.
I feel bad for the chick who hit me, but I sure as hell don't feel bad for her insurance company
. Cops were called, so all the good stuff was collected, there will be a police report and all so I'm not going to have any problems there.
Same insurance company (state farm for me and her) which sorta sucks. State farm has a policy of no diminished value payouts. I'm researching that a bit now. Unfortunately, minnesota is not one of the states that requires diminished value payouts. Unfortunately, without a lawyer, diminished value doesn't seem likely unless we're talking serious frame damage. Depending on the type of damages and how much it'll be, I might be contacting a lawyer. Considering the way I like to drive, and the type of car the G35S is, I don't exactly want to trust a reconstructed frame.

So here's a question - I was randomly pondering what to do if someone hit my car (there's some paranoia...), and it occurred to me that if the car is new enough, and the resale value goes down from a hit, why not demand the car be completely replaced?
I have no idea if this is viable (I'm sure it would be hard to the point of having to initiate a lawsuit), but if the damage is bad enough, screw it.
And BTW, you should at least demand a $1k or 2 for diminished resale value (I know that one is possible).
Good luck!

Damage to a new vehicle is a shame. It's far more than 1 to 2k imho. In the old days it took a sunny day and a very good eye and touch to uncover hidden damage and repairs (ever see what a repair looks like from the inside out? We all know body shops are backed-up, and there is an incentive to turnover cars. Good body work is an oxymoron in itself). Today, anyone with $10 and internet access can see Carfax and immediately be aware of repairs. My 335 was already on Carfax when it was en route to the exit port in Germany.
Don't know what to say, I think if it were me, I'd repair it, drive it maybe 2-3 years, and get rid of it. Body work is one situation where I'd be willing to eat the depreciation just to be rid of the vehicle. My Maxima has never been hit in 9 yrs., I hope my new car can make it that long too.....
Good luck again, sorry to hear bout this incident.

Man, that really sucks Dopey. Sorry to hear about your accident. I can't even begin to imagine how I would feel if someone hit my G after only a couple of weeks of ownership.
I really hope that everything works out and that you get your G back looking like brand new. Good luck bro and keep us updated.

That sucks. Sorry to hear. My last car got dinged in my office parking lot before I made the first payment and I was beside myself. I'm beyond **** with the G now and I'm still dreading getting dinged, much less rear ended. That being said I agree with dream_G35:
"you have the power to turn this into a positive exciting accident. Good luck on your journeys"
Hey, you never know, maybe she has a soft spot for guys who know how to drive the G.

That's too bad, but at least you didn't get rear ended and have this

I was rear ended the first day i had the car. Drunk driver rear ended me going 35 MPH. Gave me all kinds of fake info, i called the cops and told them he was drunk and away he went.
took 3 weeks to fix the car, but she is back to normal.
