making the move soon...have a few questions
whats up everyone,
i currently have an 06 coupe 6mt which is on a 12 month lease, and the lease will be ending in july. My next move is probably going to be one of these damn sexy 07 sedans. I am sold pretty much on the S model but i never drove it. Just out of curiosty does anyone have an automatic S, and if so how well do the paddle shifters actually work. Is there a big delay like the tiptronic in the previous model g's or is this actually a well working tiptronic/paddle system...or am i really just better off getting the 6mt again. As far as modding, im sure theres nothing probably out there yet, but just out curiosty with this dual intake design that we have now, would it actually be possible to put 2 intakes in the car? I looked under the hood of my gm's demo at my store and it looked like a cai would fit on the normal side and the new side possibly a short ram. Besides all of that, how do people who have the car actually like it as well.
thanks
Rocco

I have had a Sport AT...
for two weeks, but have not tried the paddle shifters yet. It is funny because the dealer had predicted that most buyers would at least use them on the way home from the dealership. They haven't really crossed my mind because the auto seems practically telepathic.
I will make it a point to try them soon and post my impressions. (I have owned quite a few manual sports cars in the past, so can give a reliable impression about their quickness and smoothness).
BTW, I seriously considered getting a stick, but felt that (performance-wise) there would be little to nothing lost in getting the auto, plus the everyday driveability would be better with the auto. The only drawback is that my wife might expect a chance to take it for a spin now.

re. "the auto seems practically telepathic"
I agree, the AT does do a good job. Pulling off from a stop normally it shifts normally but get on it even mildly and it starts holding the shifts until it's pushing 5K RPM. It's really fun hearing it spin up like that before shifts when even slightly getting on the gas. The DS (drive sport) mode is even better still as it seems to downshift more aggressively. It's so good it almost makes the manumatic mode pointless.

So I'm a fan

I've driven my Sport mostly in city (i.e. suburb) driving on some imperfect roads and feel that the ride is excellent. The car feels very connected to the road and not 'floaty' (as in Azera, for instance, and the non-sport M to a lesser degree). In my opinion, it is 'just right' and definitely not too firm.
Definitely test drive a Sport and non-Sport if you're seriously considering this car, though, because it really boils down to personal preference and the sport vs. luxury balance you seek.
I test drove both an x and a Sport, and did not really feel any noticeable difference in the suspension stiffness between them.

I test drove both sport and non-sport...could definitely tell the sport was more firm. Could feel the road a little more on the sport but it wasn't too harsh. I must be getting old because I preferred the non-sport over the sport ride. The sport ride was great on the corners though.

All other impressions on the S roadfeel and comfort have been very positive...
