Unhappy 2007 G35x - "Service Engine Soon" Light

The "Service Engine Soon" light showed up on my '07 G35x at about 800 miles. Haven't gotten the code off yet, but it's not the gas cap. Any other '07 owners have this happen?

Mine did it as well. But mine was the gas cap for sure, I thought it was on there when i checked it. But i took it off and put it on with 3 clicks the best i could and 10 miles later the light went out. Not sure what caused it on your car. If its not gone in a day or so i would take it in.

Even if you think the cap was tight, it still could have caused it. If the light isn't flashing, don't worry about it for a couple of tanks of gas. If after two or three tanks it doesn't clear by itself, then take it in.

An update: Went to the dealer and they read the code. It turned out to be the gas cap. They said that sometimes it doesn't fix itself. They reset it and everything was peachy.

On the drive back to work... the SES light turned on again. I'm hoping this is a bad sensor, but will take it to the dealer to fix.

I am right up against the first service interval (3750 mi) and it advises me each time the car is started to see the dealer, do the service, change the oil and filter, get someone from g35.com to zaino the car, etc-- most of which is scheduled for next week.

I had the exact same thing happen. It was the gas cap. I make sure that the cap is on TIGHT. As I'm turning, I'm also (lightly) pushing the cap. If it doesn't feel tight, I do it again. Haven't had any issues since.

BTW - When I took my car in to have the SES looked at the service manager told me that the SES indicator will reset itself after 18 starts. Anyone else hear about this? I can't believe that number is correct.
