Silkscreen will come off for sure. We're having problems with the ink cracking when the cover is stretched over the remote. Makes it look really cheesy ... not fitting for our cars!

Quote: Plain black is fine with me. I've had my G for over a month now and I'm pretty sure I haven't pressed a single button on the remote even once.

I'm looking into just getting the chip surgically implanted in me so I don't have to keep putting it in my pocket.
I see you haven't walked far away and wondered if you remembered to lock your car up yet A push of the button would save you the walk back to the car.

Also a nice remote feature is auto open all windows before you get into the car. I can see myself using this on a hot summer day.

But like you, I haven't had to take the remote out of my pocket yet.

Sure ... the project is not dead.

Here is a pic of the latest iteration which came in on Tuesday. It's still too rough for my taste so I am having the shop make a few more modifications.

not really liking the unfinished look of the plastic.

here's an idea for all neoprene; i'm not sure what the technical term would be, but how about 'heat-pressing' the logos for the buttons into the neoprene. they would still be black (assuming a black cover), and stretching would do nothing to them once branded in.

hey here's an idea - how 'bout some plastic wrap and a rubberband...no wait, just carry the remote around in a ziplock bag

I like the neoprene but not the clear plastic. I agree with the cheap mobile phone cover comment.

One suggestion that I haven't seen mentioned and maybe it's too late but why not leave an opening for each button. That way you can still see it but it's mostly protected by the condom er...cover.

Just 0.02 cents for the thread. I'll take two.

Is there another source for purchasing the Intelliegent key fob other than the dealer? My wife had hers for all of 2 weeks and then lost the fob...DOH!!!!

Thanks, -Frank

Thanks all for your inputs. At this point, I'm just trying to get something finalized, otherwise this thread will be one of the longest or most viewed in the forum!

I will definetly be exploring some of your other ideas later on.

By all means ... this is not on the back burner. I am still working it. Here is a pic of the latest iteration. I don't expect the Ikey to change with the upcoming replacement since they use the same molded shell for everything else so this cover should still fit.

Also keep in mind this one was made entirely by hand so the window cut out is still a little rough.

I never take the remote out of my pocket. I lock & unlock my car using the door handles. I'm not really concerned about "scratches". However, occasionally, a button in the remote gets depressed while it is in my pocket. When home, every once in a while, the car horn goes off if the panic button is depressed accidentally. It's possible other buttons also get depressed inadvertently while in one's pocket, shortening battery power. It would be great if a hard case were available for preventing inadvertent button presses.
