Any pattern to it? In my '04 Maxima (manual), I often get a foul smell when I've been driving for a while and the engine's hot and I come to a stop and put it in reverse to park or whatever. Not sure why it's reverse that does it but that's the trigger for mine.

The A/C smells because the condensor coils condense water that grows the mould/mildew that lands on them. The best way is to run your fan a bit without the A/C on to dry off the coils fefore you shut off the car.

also, try using a charcol in cabin filter.

this usuallly works for us...dont know about the 07 sedans...

+1 Let fan run with AC off using air from outside. This will dry off the coils. TO keep vents smelling fresh Spray Lysol Disinfectant in the outside vents once every few months. I do mine every oil change Then put it to recalculate.

Me too, about five months for me - am conjecturing that it's gone because it's cooler here now (Houston), and after a while the AC switches to fresh air vs. recirc. That may reduce allow fresh air into the system, avoiding the smell.

Where are the outside vents? I've had this smell since I got the car almost a year ago.

Vents are right at the top edge of the hood where the windshield wipers are. I always keep the fan running and shoot some Lysol or Febreeze in the outside vents when I wash my car.

a/c smell

I've already had mine serviced for mildew smell coming from a/c. Bought new in Jan. 2007. I live in a humid climate so this is an on-going problem with G35's. Mildew collects rapicly through the vents on the passenger side intake and the heater coils. Still can't completely get rid of smell though. Lysol sprayed on passenger side after use helps but this a downfall of the model. The dealership cleaned the filter and heater coils with a very strong cleaner. Could not use air for a week because so strong. Still hasn't completely cured the problem. Trying to decide if I can put up with the smell long enough to keep the car..

+1 for Febreze:

So here's the comprehensive list we've been building, folks:
  1. Lysol or dealer treatment for mold (if under warranty, make your dealer deal with it!!!)
  2. Febreze to neutralize the odor
  3. Turn off AC 1 mile prior to arrival but keep fan on.
  4. Use outside air, not inside air in AC

I noticed this odor too on my brand new G37. The sour smell sounds pretty accurate. It was musty/sour kinda like sweaty leather smell or something.

Im coming from and old car that occasionally had mildew in the air vent problems, but this smell on the G37 was different and I can't believe it could get mildew in the vents after only a couple weeks.

I don't notice it as much lately so either its gone away or I just got used to the smell.

One thing I did do out of the ordinary is keep my AC on recirculate almost 100% of the time. Once i started noticing the smell I started to let fresh air in occasionally.
