07 sedan 7500m 1st oil change?

Picked up my '07 6MT this morning & kinda surprised when my salesman told me first oil change should be @ or <7500 mi from synthetic blend to full synthetic. The owner's manual still has the 3750 mi service page but he crossed it out as well. I do not recall this being brought up by any 07 owners here or other G forums (unless I have amnesia of course). For those who works for Infiniti, is this because of the new engine? Please elaborate.

Thanks & btw, I did check my oil today after getting the car home so to get some idea where to start. Hopefully when the rain stops coming down by tomorrow I can take it out for a drive & even shoot some pics.

Ironically .. I just got back from the dealer today and they already did my first oil change at 1700 mi. I orginally went in to get the the sunroof sides stuck on for the TSB and they just changed my oil at no charge.

My dealer told me to come in at 3750 miles for the first oil change (which is complimentary).

Welcome PF, and congrats on the '07....

You're wise to question what the salesman did.. I don't know why he did that, but deviating from the manufacturer's recommendation isn't the thing to do.... --

Indeed, some of us get the first change done early just for caution,-- It may not be necessary but why not err on the side of caution.... -for the sake of the cost of an oil change...

It's up to you whether you go synthetic so soon into the engine's life....some of us do, others wait until after 10k miles or even 20k.

Enjoy the new ride....
Colin

Schedule 2 in the manual is 7,500 miles. He's just being honest with you about what the car really needs. Did he have a European accent? NO modern car needs oil changes every 3,750 miles period - only if the car is serviced in North America.

Depends where you are driving. No highway driving and 3750 would be right.

But only in North America. Anywhere else in the world - 10,000 miles for a Nissan auto.
