2K7 Navi in NY area.impressions?

I am inches away from trading my '06 5AT coupe for an '07 sedan (expiring lease), and I am leaning toward getting the navi this time around. If there is anybody in the NY/Long Island area who could provide his/her impressions of the navi system, particularly how it works with the XM updates, I would be grateful.

Originally, I planned on waiting for the '08 coupe, but stuffing a kid or two in the backseat of my '06 (which happens on rare occasions--i.e., when my wife and I aren't together), hasn't been fun. Also, although we've been lucky this season, AWD would probably make more sense given the occasional heavy snowfall. Time to grow up (I'm 39), bite the bullet, and get a sedan--my first 4 dour ever. Has anyone gone from coupe to '07 sedan? I really dig the new sedan, but I have to admit that whenever I approach my coupe, it still looks sexy as hell. I wonder if I'll feel that way about the sedan. Anyone?

PM me the nav works great especially since most of our highways are congested during rush hour. it updates every minute and 30 seconds plus the voice recognition helps derived from the M

My opinion from here: https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v36-2007-08/132075-xmnavtraffic-only-work-destination-mode.html

I have to say that I'm not completely impressed with the NavTraffic, at least in the NY Metro area. First of all, it doesnt really cover all of the roads (like a previous poster mentioned the Belt). Also, it tends to have no info or gaps in the highways. In my opinion a highway should always show green, yellow, or red. But a lot of times there's no color at all, so I have no idea if there's a problem or not and when I get there I get stuck (not to mention I look like an idiot when I'm with someone and I'm bragging about the feature). And then there's gaps in the info...like it'll show green for about 5 exits length, then it'll show nothing for the next 10 exits, then it'll show traffic info again.

Another thing I wish it did was when you switch the map view to the one that shows you the list of turns, I wish it would tell you at which point the "congestion" is, that way you can consider at what point to reroute, without trying to scroll/navigate through the map (not safe while driving).
You might want to check out the thread I linked above as well as this one:

https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v36-2007-08/136137-do-you-like-your-real-time-nav.html

As for the Navigation itself, I love it...I just have some issues with the XM NavTraffic. The navigation system is awesome, I've used it a number of times driving to clients and I love it...it automatically changes map views when appropriate and even has a nice tone to let me know I've hit a turn. I would def recommend the Navigation.

Originally I had posted that the LIE was cover all the way to the midtown tunnell but that wasn't true. I've noticed areas where it does not show what's going on with the traffic.

If you commute alot I still think it would be worth it.

I'm 32 and I have the 2007 sedan. I honestly do not think age is the factor for getting a two vs four door.

1) More space
2) More power to the wheel than the coupe
3) The design
4) Bigger trunk space
5) The technology/features on the 07 sedan vs. coupe
6) Smoother ride
7) Quieter ride

I traded my 04 350Z.

Thanks. You'd be surprised how much that helps. For me, the G coupe was actually the original compromise--I really wanted the Z, but no backseats means, kids stay home.

LOL.

Obviously, there are times when this is a good thing, but NEVER being able to cart one or both of the kids around would break their hearts, and force me to drive the Odyssey, while my wife jets around in the sports car--I couldn't bear either of those things.

I think it's pretty universal that kids (son: 6, daughter: 4) want to go in daddy's car, since it's more fun than the minivan (although to be fair to my wife, it's actually cool FOR A MINIVAN). I love when they are both in the back of my car requesting SPEED. Of course, I would never drive recklessly with or without them, but it is fun to see their faces light up when I put the hammer down for a bit. (I can't believe I said "hammer.")

LOL. If I was a kid and I had a choice between riding in a G or an Odyssey I think I would know what to choose as well. Smart kids you've got!

Yeah, and unlike the Odyssey, the G doesn't even have a DVD player--I'm the entertainment.

At least you've got the AUX ports if you want to hook up a portable DVD player. Btw, what do you do for in-car entertainment?
