One of the many reasons to get a manual.

When I had dyno'd my old auto N/A subi, I was down 10 HP on similar-modded manual subi, same dyno, same day.

VQ aside, most engines have heat soak issues especially with turbos during dynos. but i'm surprized that motordyne said the 6mt is only +2 to 3hp difference. that sounds too good to be true. as mentioned before, its usually at least 15hp difference.

290..thats freaking rediculous! Isnt it advertised as 309??? The old g35 is advertised at 280 and only puts down like 235 to the wheels stock...There is no way there is only 20HP lost from the crank to the wheels.

It's actually advertised at 306 and yes 290 is freaking redunk. So 16hp loss is what...about 5% drivetrain loss. Wow...that is FREAKING REDUNK!!

This is not on a dynojet guys. This is a dynapack. The dynapack doesn't use rollers like a dynojet. It bolts up directly to the vehicle's driven hubs; meaning no wheels or tires. That also means somewhere on the order of 50lbs fewer rotational mass per hub. Dynapacks typically report higher number than dynojets.

So when you see most people claiming numbers in the 220 to 250 range, those are typically on a dynojet. On a dynapack, the numbers will be greater.

Regardless, the numbers are still impressive.

HP rating standards have changed...

The SAE standard HP ratings that manufacturers now use has changed recently and it appears that the numbers they get are lower than what was showed by the previous standards. This means that there may be a smaller difference between the manfacturers claimed crank HP rating vs. the actual HP to the wheels. As more 07 G's are dynoed we will see how this plays out.

Keep in mind that is dynapack. Dont confuse dynapack with dynojet. My car dynoed 262 whp on dynapack with just z-tube and the advertised HP 03-04 sedans are 260. Then i dynoed my car on dynojet and had 246whp.

That means that my car is making about 276 to the crank and the new G35 is making 275 whp on dynojet.
