New Car Tire Pressure

Hey G owners,

It is common practice for car dealerships to over inflate their tires.

I checked mine this morning (when the tires were cold), and the dealership had set them to 42 PSI. The sticker inside my door panel says that they should be set to 30 PSI. That is a huge difference, especially as the car travels over the rough roads of Southern California. Dropping down to 12 PSI made the car ride much better.

So for all you new G owners, I would suggest you check your PSI and set it to a level you are happy with and closer to the recommend number of 30 PSI.

They are set high for transport, better clearance. The dealer should have checked this..

I think dealers also set them high in the winter so the low pressure sensor won't come on when they are really cold.
At 42 (delivered) the turn in was outstanding and the ride was supple and not at all harsh, which really surprised me when i checked the tires.
At 34, the ride was smoother but the difference is not enough to make up for the slight mushiness in turn in. So I am at 38 all around and it works for me.

My tires were delivered at 33psi which is the specified pressure according to the sticker on the drivers side door frame. The ride at this pressure is not at all mushy.

Actually they do this for the ship ride over it helps keep the tires from flat spotting. The dealer should have check this.

The sticker inside my door panel says 33 (I have a G35x). My car was delivered with about 39psi. The dealer said that they overinflate the tires for the trip from Japan. The dealer really should check for proper tire pressure before delivering to the customer, though.

over-inflated and WRONG tire

https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v36-2007-08/138023-non-matcing-tire-my-new-g35-sport.html

Mine were all over-inflated to about 36 or 37 and then I discovered that one of the tires did not match. See my thread link above.

Thanks for the info G fans

Dropping my tire pressure did make a big difference. I can say, it is like an entirely new car. Some of us who drive so cal freeways know how harsh the roads can be to our cars. Now that the tire pressure is lower, the car absorbs more of the bumps.

Just to confirm, my Sport with automatic says the PSI should be 30. Some G35x drivers say 33 PSI. Does anyone have a Sport model with a different number on the sticker inside the driver door?

Thanks
Herschel

I looked in the day light today!

Imagine my surprise when I saw that it said 33 PSI like everyone else.

I will just blame my car for my mistakes...I am having so much fun driving it, I cant seem to focus when I get out of it!

Mine were at 42psi so last night I brought them all down to 36psi and now my dash has the low tire pressure warning lit. What do I need to do to get the light to go off?

Strange. You may want to call the dealer (or double check that your tire gauge is accurate - I don't know what kind you have, but many of the pen-like tire gauges are very inaccurate).

slightly off subject, but in the same theme of tire pressure. My dealer says they fill the tire with pure nitrogen, does that effect tire pressure recommendations?
