Went to my insurance company over the weekend. They have a drive in service where they inspect your car and cut you a check on the spot.

He said the damage totals about $2,050 which covers a new bumper cover, new headlight with bulbs. Strange thing he told me was that the headlight without bulbs was about $950 while the unit wiht bulbs was $750 (something for you guys to keep in mind if this unfortunatley happens to you), and also includes paint of course.

One thing he said that body shop should overspray onto the fenders and some of the hood because of how the hood comes down next to strip that is part of the bumper cover.

He said that they can never match the paint exactly and they should over spary to blend it in.

What's your opinion.

Thanks in advance.

well... thats a tough one. it is my understanding that they cannot usually match paint exactly due to paint fading etc etc. It would seem to me though with the car being so new, it should be VERY VERY true to the factory paint color. I would think that if they could get the code for your factory color, or the paint from Infiiti (I dont know how this works with bodyshops) it should be extremely close?!?!

Anyone else know more about this that I do?

The guy at the insurance co said that even if was to be painted at the factory it wouldn't be an exact match. I guess when they mix a new batch its never exact

i got rear ended and the rear bumper cover needed to be replaced. It was painted and they didn't do any overspray and i can't tell the difference between the bumper cover and the rest of the body panels color-wise.
