A few things I did notice when comparing sedanman07's pic (https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...hlight=exhaust) with the Stillen pic was the cats are different (possibly higher performance) and the pipes exiting the cats seemed much larger. (Also the pipes entering the cats seemed larger as well but not really sure.)

Could these differences account for a moderate boost in HP and TQ (generally in the 10-20 HP range for this type of mod)?

I'll clarify/defend my point of "exactly" the same, I said it looks the "same", I didn't use the word "exactly" and by the "same", I was implying it's design a 2-1-2 system and not a true duel exhaust. and by the "same" I was also implying my guestimates of performance.

say that again one more time....hehe. understandable. maybe the stock system is soo well built that all they needed to do is use bigger pipes, better flowing cats and make it light weight. tho common sense would say that the x-pipe SHOULD produce more power/tq. i need to go talk to my exhaust guy to see get his opinion.

I meant no offense. I wasn't trying to make you clarify or defend anything. I just happened to remember seeing a picture of a stock underbody, put the pictures side-by-side and made a few observations. I was just wondering if the things I noticed would make a moderate performance improvement. That's all.

I think you're confusing the cats with inline resonators.

I just did some quick research and let me see if I have this right. Out of the exhaust manifold you have the headers going into a pre-cat. Then a down pipe into the cat. Then comes the y-pipe. The the inline resonators, then the mufflers. Close?

NO FIRST YOU HAVE THE HEADERS THEN YOU HAVE THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD A NINER THAT GOES INTO A 364 TYPE A SPEC DOWNPIPE WHICH THEN CONVERTS TO AN EAGLE 1 DELTA WHICH IN TURN YES IS A DOWNPIPE..AFTER THAT IT GOES INTO A NON FRICTION ZONE RESONATING TYPE PIPE MANIFOLD WHICH IS CONNECTED TO THE Y PIPE WHICH IS ALSO CONNECTED TO THE FUNNY BONE ERRRRRR WAIT I MEAN CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND THEN EXITS THRU THE MUFFLER.... I THINK THATS RIGHT...

I think exhaust by itself as a mod to add more power is overrated, much like an intake. The amount of power you get in compared to $$$ amount spend is irrelevant.

You've got the exhaust manifolds that connect to the cats. The cats then connect to the y/x pipe. From there you have the two output pipes with inline resonators that route to the mufflers.

The previous generation sedan was a little different. Exhaust manifolds > cats > ypipe > midpipe(single, with resonator) > rear section(muffler).
