Is it necessary to 'break-in'?

I'm picking up my new 2007 G35 this monday, with these new japanese cars and preparations the factories put them through, is it really necessary to break-in the cars? or can you drive them the way you normally would right after bringing it out of the dealership?

I think you'll hear varying opinions here, probably half on each side. I "babied" mine till about 600 miles and then I couldn't take it anymore.
