It would be cool if they do that. or do I have to push the door or key button.

Thanks

That would have been a good user setting, but no, no autolock when leaving the car or when putting the car into a drive gear....at least none that I found.

Nope, I think that would be a pain in the derrier . You must push the button on the handle or the keyfob.

I've thought that on my 04 sedan too... I've walked away intending to come back momentarily so don’t lock it... and it ends up being locked... I always thought it was because I clicked the remote button by habit and didn't realize it... it has happened several times and every time I tell myself I need to pay attention one of these days and see if this is locking itself. Now I really need to remember to try it and see…

the thing is I've left the key in the car but not in ignition (while I was near) for a long time and it doesn't lock itself... only when I walk away with the key... that’s why I always figured I armed it by habit... My year doest have keyfob with keyless entry and start so I can’t imagine it actually locks itself but I'll check it out. If somehow the car does detect the remote being a certain distance away (therefore not in the car) and locks itself that would be awesome!!! It's not that smart though (or is it?)

I noticed that as well, i think their is some kind of sensor that detects the remote is in the car, but wont lock unless you manualy lock it. I know the mercedes (from 2000 and newer) wouldn't allow you to lock the car if the keyfob was inside the car and the key wasnt in the iginition.

Mine locks automatically if you unlock the doors and then don't open them - I think it takes 5 minutes but the cars figures you mistakenly ulocked it?

Correct - there's a re-lock function, but not automatic lock.

That would be a pain for me too, I lock it when I need it by habit.

once you get customed to just hitting the black button on the door handle everytime you close the door it isnt a problem.. i had the same feelings about the lack of this feature but once you get use to it , it basically becomes routine lol alllll right

My irritant is you have to all the doors closed to lock the car with the door button and gives an alarm if one of the passenger doors is still open.
I've had a few occasions when I'm out of the car and pressed the button but ther passenger hasn't closed their door yet.

I meant to post this the other day and forgot... I tested this - walked away fromcar key in hand door unlocked did not arm... approx 5 min later (maybe a littel less) came back, car was unlocked. I gues I had previously armed it by habit not realizing it and thought the car was locking itself.
