The G completely out-handled the Daytona through the bends.. I gained more respect for my "old guy's" G35 that night. Thought I was going to miss my 2006 Z.... nope.
FYI - the Daytona comes with a 5.7L hemi. The Charger SRT-8 comes with the 6.1L, and those things are beasts.

(Not to mention you put BFG's on your car which effects traction- which means that the 25rwhp was not the only thing responsible for your drop in time-)

But on a high 13 second car, 25 rwhp will have no where near the same effect-

Otherwise, it takes a lot more power to go from high 13s to low 13s then it does to go from high 14s to low 14s-

On a high 13 second car, most of the time 25rwhp will be lucky to get you another .4 seconds off your time-

I think if the G37 coupe is much faster, it will be attributed more to gearing and traction then another 25rwhp- as gearing and traction is the exact reason the IS350 is faster then the current G35 sedan-

The IS350 might have 10 ft/tq more- but what really helps it is the 4.11 final drive ratio while the G35 has closer to a 3.55- if I remember correctly-

I would also be interested in looking at the torque curve as a famous man once said-

HP might sell cars, but torque wins races-
While you're correct, you are forgetting about VVEL's effect on the torque curve of the new egine. Peak torque is virtually identical, but the curve is amazingly flat with more power down low and up high. According to Automobile's dyno charts, the G37 produces ~85% of its peak torque at redline...that is astonishing. Furthermore, the VQ37HR delivers more power and more usable torque while achieving better efficiency and cleaner emissions. It is superior in every conceivable way to the already impressive VQ35HR.

I think you are overstating exactly how flat the torque curve is, and the impact of VVEL on that torque curve.

For example, I have attached first ever dyno run. As you can see, I put down 242/211. When the pull started recording, I put down 199.49tq, and at redline, I put down 184tq.

So bone stock on my revup motor, I put down 94.3% of peak torque at ~3k rpms, and at redline, the engine was making 87% of peak torque.

Apparentlly he was right. The 3.7 might not fit the Sedan. Just read the C&D review posted on the G37 Forum and it mentioned that the 3.7's block is taller than the 3.5's

Yeah C&D's word is God

If only a slight revision could be made to make a slightly taller motor fit... If only.

Oh wait, a revised hood.

car and driver "supposidly" tested the g37. i found it strange that i showed a .1 slower 0-60 time as the g35S, and the same exact 1/4 mile time.

It also shows the curb weight is around 200 lbs heavier so i guess that may not be to far off.

I can't believe how that thing weighs so much more than the sedan. I was going to wait for the coupe, but there's something about its looks that are off to me. The sedan is so elegant, the Coupe seems lost.

I regretted not purchasing a Coupe in 04 since it looked so much better than the sedan at the time, but this time I decided the Sedan looks better, plus I wanted to go back to a four door.

Although I think production coupes will be faster, I think it'll only be marginable. Plus I like the rarity of having a 6MT sedan.

The 1st generation coupe weighs more than the 1st generation sedan too. I think the difference in weight is a little smaller but only slightly so IIRC.

I recall the weight difference being like 30lbs, not ~150

Motortrend got 5.4/14.0 but still gave it the nod over the 335i:
