So im going over a friends house that just bought a new dodge charger. I get there and everyone leaves his car to come see mine. The G steals the show. But one of my friends points out a spot on the edge of the rear door jam. I look at it close and i see its a paint chip that is RUSTING! 5 months old and i have rust on my car? You gotta be kidding me? What the hell am i gonna do about this? Im so mad that a 40k lux car is showing rust at all!! Let alone in the first 5 months. Ive been pushing to a bunch of my friends that infiniti's are quality cars, but this is no good. Anyone have this problem too? Ive looked around the car and i find random paint chips on the car. Does nissan/infiniti have the cheapest paint ever or am i just unlucky? Between the rust and the chipping grill the outside is having serious issues. Any insight guys and gals? Thanks..

that blows- I have some nasty chips too, I will be checking them for rust. If it starts to rust, I will be PISSED! Sorry to hear. I am going to try and post a picture of my grill as well, it looks horrible....

I bitched about the nissan paint when I had my '04 repaired after the accident and our bodyshop guy said they actually have some of the best paint out there. He said the problem to him seemed to be more related to the body design of different cars as to whether you were likely to get chips, etc.

As for having the rust, if you have chipped the paint somehow and it is down to the metal then you will get rust - regardless of the car and regardless of how old it is. That is just an unfortunate fact.

I've always suspected that the g35 doesn't get any special paint treatment compared to the *** skyline version.

however, i think lexus gets better paint than their toyota counterparts.

After 80K miles, my 03.5 has no visible rust. Granted, its a 100% garaged car and they don't salt the roads here. But the paint quality is definitely not on par with our Lexus LS400. The G front is rock-chipped to hell, so a clear bra would have been wise if I had known up front. Maybe when I fall into some money, I will remove the front piece and have it re-shot and install a clear bra.

C'mon...be reasonable. If a car gets chipped and it's bad enough to get past the primer....it WILL rust. Water+bare metal= rust. Can't blame Infiniti for that.

My bud has a BMW 330i - 3 years old. Rusted in spots where chipped.
