Comment on deal...

Shopping for a new company car... dealer is offering me a G35 (Journey, Premium, XM) for $1500 over invoice. Uh, is that ridiculous? Our co. cars are handled through a leasing company, so it should be a relatively clean deal for the dealer. They are, BTW, the only dealer in the state (live in the middle of nowhere.)

Probably the dealer knows that it is a company car and hence he doesn't expect a lot of haggling ??

You should get a better deal on a Prem only car - keep haggling

Agreed.

Take the time to figure out the deal YOU want, get on the infiniti website and send an email to the sales manager at any dealership within your range, tell them your willing to come do the deal there, and see who does the deal or comes at you with the best offer. Thats what I did, ended up 2 dealerships bit (both trying to sell me the same car ironically). I went with the one who I thought had been more helpful and honest, so they had the car brought over from the other dealership and sold it to me.... drove an hour and a half but it was worth it, the nearest dealership wanted to bend me over. Goodluck!!

1,500 is not a bad deal. You will lose much more in opportunity cost and brain damage trying to squeek another couple hundred dollars out of the salesmans pocket.

I'd say it's a pretty bad deal. I got my my sport 6mt with premium for $1500 over invoice and that was 4 months ago. Keep haggling.

In all honesty, it's pretty hard to say its a bad deal. The reason I say that is that for markets that have very few or only one dealer in the entire state, pricing isn't near as competitive as lets say the tri-state area. My nearest dealer is a four hour drive away so they know they have me over a barrel and can charge a little higher than dealers in the Toronto area for example.

My point is that working a deal of a few hundred bucks over invoice will probably be more difficult in Nebraska with only one dealership than in NYC with multiple dealerships to choose from. In reality, it all boils down to where you live.

and I thought I got a crappy *** quote.

Infiniti of Riverside california offered $1200 over invoice on a Journey + premium only.

That's riverside in southern california. who were they f***ing kidding..

Everyone else was offering 200-400 above invoice straight off the bat.

Thanks for your replies... Garnet Canuck makes a good point. This nearest dealers other than this one are in Kansas City and Denver, - both about 5 hours away. And of course my dealer is well aware of this fact.

I've continued to talk to him and I'm sure I could get the car for about $1200 over invoice, but I think that's about the best I'll manage.

The Denver dealer only has x's, and the KC dealer is offering about $2K over invoice...

...so if there's a G in my future, it's going to be from the NE dealer. Thx. again.

Done agonizing over car choices...

Thanks for your comments and suggestions.

Long story short, after considering a bunch of different cars, I've decided I'm definitely going to get the G. It's the only car in my price range that I fell in love with when I first saw and drove it.

The car I've been looking at at our (only one in the state) dealer is a Journey, Liquid Platinum, Stone interior, Premium, XM, splash guards, cargo net... and if the dealer comes down a bit, and I know he will - I'm there.

Thanks again... will update later in the week.

We are also forgetting you don't have to have an Infiniti dealer big against another Infiniti dealer. Tell the dealer you are considering an Acura TL, Lexus 350 or Audi A4 and your getting a better deal from them. They will give you the song and dance of how superior the G35 is (which it is by the way), but say you like both cars equally and price will be the determining factor.
