In my G caller ID does not appear on the dash, it always says private (or blocked maybe, one of the two) although when I answer the number appears and when I go to the call log it is recorded. Is that normal ?

I see the number of whoever is calling on mine. I was wondering if there is any way I could label the numbers? That way I can see the name of who is calling instead of just the number.

 

I think it only shows the names of people who you have in your phonebook in the car?!?! I am not sure though, I never reprogrammed my phonebook when it deleted?!?!

 

Maybe it has to do with te type of phone ? I'll try with my blackberry today.

Sounds like a phone thing. Many people mention different behaviors with different phones. Mine won't get detected by the car sometimes...

 

This seems to be the case. Unless I set up a phone number in the phone book of my car, nothing is displayed at all.

 

So wait... now Im confused. What is the consensus here .... are non-saved numbers supposed to show up on Call ID ?

Im thinking that its is supposed to show up ... caller ID info can be passed to enabled headsets, plus the number appears once you accept the call. It most likley is a setting (either phone or car) Just not sure which one or where.

 

If they are not in my G phone book, I just get the number displayed.

Ok, now I'm confused. So we can display names when people call instead of just the number? How do I enable this feature because all I see is the number? I have a Razor btw.

 

+1. Same for me. No problems here. I only use the downloaded phonebook. It's a bit of a hassle, as I have to periodically upload it from my phone to my G, but I don't get that many new numbers. I'm no pimp.

yeah my phone does the exact same thing, except it's intermittent, sometimes it does show the name.

I have a samsung pocket pc phone

 

Yeah, I get the phone number displayed, unless the caller is in my phonebook, then it shows their name. I'm using a relatively old V551.
