No oil filter trap door?

Odd...I read the threads discussing a trap door in the under panel for oil filter access, so happily told the guys doing mine to look for it. After a few minutes they said no, it doesn't have one. So I traipse down into the well under the car, and sure enough - no trap door in the under panel...?

Are they only on the X model? Or maybe they were introduced after the first few models...?

um i have a trap door in my g35s that i bought in march. Not like the one on the g35x but the panel folds back after you unscrew 4 bolts.

Yeah, I'm wondering if it's a build date thing - I bought mine in Nov. too.

no sure what your definition of trap door is, but I had to remove a couple of screws to remove a plastic piece about (1.5'x1') to access the oil filter. I bought my X in end Nov.

I pick up my G35 Sport 6MT on Tuesday, and it's build date was 3/2007, so I'll let you guys know if I have a trap door on it or not.

Side note, I'm glad to see that the oil dip stick is normal, compared to the screwy one that was on my 05 coupe...

I am sure if you really wanted one you could buy the underbody tray from the dealer and swap it over.
