How Much UV Protection Provided by Glass?

I'm considering tinting my 07 G35 Sedan with 35% sides and back, but I'm a little concerned after throwing a scrap piece of 35% up on my driver's-side window and experimenting with it at night. Cars next to me seemed pretty, um... dark. I'd hate to change lanes right into someone. I have excellent (20/15 tested) vision but this isn't about acuity - it's about dark.

I see the UV signs on my glass (well, I do on the sides - I haven't seen any on the front or back). How much UV protection do the windows provide? Cause if the sides and back provide 99% UV protection without tint, I'm not gonna tint.

Anyone know how much UV protection the windows provide?

I thought autoglass blocked almost all UV even without tint.

Here's what "the internet" says...

"glass absorbs the short wavelength UV (UV-C 190 - 280 nm and UV-B
280 - 320 nm), but transmits the longer UV-A (320 - 400 nm) radiation."

I always heard that it was UV-B that caused sunburn cancer.

I think you are fine without tint as autoglass and most glass block UV. UV blocking glass won't do much to help keep the heat down.

I have 35% film on mine and I have a dark interior. You should be fine.

Most cars now have some UV protection....People who tint want privacy or some heat rejection and to lower cabin temp...

From what I understand, the G35 has 100% blocking. It's listed in the brochure as UV blocking glass or something to that effect. It's under specifications or standard features.

I just checked it, and my USA brochure reads "UV reducing".

If you feel 35 is too dark, you can get 50% tint.

I think some ceramic films have 70%+ VLT films that also reject most of the UV (99%) and significant heat rejection.
