Aftermarket Sirius - Antenna Placement?

I was wondering if the satellite signal is strong enough if the antenna is placed in the car on the rear deck as close to the back window as possible. I'd rather put it there then on the roof if the reception is just as good.

Thanks,
Mike

Your reception won't be good enough in my opinion. If it were XM you would be just fine but Sirius will be a big pain in your *** if you put it there. You will lose signal if a bird flies over your car...not really but you know what I'm trying to say.

mine is on the rear deck wedged all the way where the glass and the deck meet (towards the trunk). that way it has as much view of the sky as possible and my reception is great.

I have a Sirius antenna mounted on the inside of the front windshield just to the right of the mirror (inside the tint strip as well)- totally invisible from outside the car, and you don't even know it's there when inside the car- reception is great.

GSpotter... What did you use to stick the antenna to the windshield? Does it come with some kind of adhesive? Will it leave a mark when removed (I will be leasing the car).

Thanks,
Mike

I've got my Sirius Starmate in the car for now, until I get the Sirius factory unit and yank out the XM. I have the antenna on the rear deck, and it works fine, reception is always 2 or 3 bars.

Only problem is that sometimes during "spirited driving" (as they say), the antenna does flip over on its side and you lose reception. If it wasn't just a temporary install, I could probably velcro it down or something.

I have mine wedged between the windshield and dash...right in the center. Reception is fine, if not perfect!

In my last car i put the antenna in the rear window. It will have the same quality of signal, but it loses the signal much more easily. I lose signal whenever I drove on a road that is pretty overgrown on the side with trees.
