Potential spoiler group buy "Tommy Kaira" style.

Hello all, if you're reading this, perhaps you are interested enough to help some of your fellow '07 G owners get this started.

As many of you know, I have been trying to get the TK spoiler for some time with the same results: no. Due to my inability to sit around on my thumbs and wait, I started phoning around.

I've been in contact with a local fibreglass manufacturer of bodykits and spoilers to develop a rear spoiler with the looks of the Tommy Kaira rear spoiler with some differences:
(If anyone has some better pics, please post or send them my way. I know there are some better ones that these out there.)

My idea to save time during prototyping (an perhaps cost) is to not have the spoiler extend below the rear deck so that it covers the rear view camera and trunk release button. In essense, it would look the same, but just sit on *top* of the rear deck and the lower half of the chrome would be exposed.

It will follow the lines of the top of the trunk and be an extension of it as pictured, but will not cover the chrome bit on the rear of the trunklid.

I won't lie to you, here's the catch, in order to get this R&D'd enough to make, it'll take about $2500 CAD from conception to mold to final product.

Still reading? good, that may mean you might be serious about this.

If we can get atleast 10 people interested, the cost would be about $300-$400 CAD per unit after which, I will request/negotiate as part of this package, to keep the molds thereby guaranteeing exclusivity.

I want to stress that once this is done, there will be no other vehicle out there with this spoiler other than those who have gotten one through this deal. After which, I will either bury the molds or break them... probably store them nicely somewhere.

Of course, the more people interested, the cheaper per unit (or spoiler) it will be. At the moment, I'm split as to whether the spoiler should match the TK one exactly or just be a decklid style spoiler.

My only other question is, how many people are willing to commit to this?.

not that i would get one (i wouldn't) but keep in mind if you do the full coverage one you may need two versions, for the folks that also have the tech package. the lip-only version would be universal.

How will it be different from the Euro spoiler? If you want it flush to the trunk and showing the crome? Here is a sample from Wood Dash Experts http://www.wooddashexperts.com/produ...?imageid=27135

Just curious because I like what your visualizing ...

do you think that rear bumber is mated to that particular exhaust system? Im kinda iffy about that whole muffler coming out of the bumber...wouldnt the bumber get burned around the holes?

That rear spoiler looks really good but the camera kills it. If it was installed on a nontech G it would look better IMO.

From experience, i'll never buy a kit where the exhaust sits like that. Carbon build up and bumper burn, as my buddy calls it, are all that stem from that. I love my car and I baby it, but taking the time to spray and clean my exhaust tips and bumper so they don't turn black and brown isn't worth it. And then having to repaint the bumper if it gets bad? or get a new bumper all together?

(And yes, I don't like the Porsche Carrera GT exhaust either)

I do love the front, not a fan of the spoiler... as i said, i want one similar to the one on the gtr.

i love that wing.

It actually comes up and a bit further back than the euro spoiler. More like a duck bill, less like a add on.

It would require a 25% deposit from atleast 10 people to get started.
