Correction I meant to say, "NOT sure I love it". And my fingers are not even fat.

Maybe if you paint them the same color red, it would look sweet. However, if they are a different color red... like in the PS pic, mmm.... not so much. Looks kind of ghetto.

You bet, i'll do it tonight. My car will not be clean though. It's going to rain again tonight. I did just one because if I wanted to reverse it, it would be easier.

I did not prep the metal as I planned as I believe it would look better with the casting line completely removed. However to do that I'd need to remove all of the casting pits and that's a lot of work for something this little.

Any thoughts on the caliper being painted two colors. Black on top with a silver "infiniti" decal and silver on the bottom with a black Mt Fuji logo from the casting line towards the hub? Might look nice. ??

So you painted them still attached, and masked everything off? Is the paint hard to handle (I'm assuming it's a spray)? Guess you used sheets for the rest of the suspension / wheel bay, or do you just have really good aim?

Where'd you get the paint?

Whatever you do, do not paint the stock calipers to any flashy color. I've seem them [red], and looks hilarious. Our calipers are too puny for flashyness. Black would be your best bet.

The G37 brakes in the othe hand...

Yes, I definitely left them on the car and masked it off. If they were high end racing brakes and I’d take them off, glass bead them and have them painted. Racing brakes are like little pieces of art work. These…not so much. The masking took about 10 minutes with an exacto knife. There is not too much to mask off.

The can of paint was Dupli Color from O’reilly Auto Parts. It’s a spray paint for Brake Caliper w/ ceramic. I used newspaper around the rest of it. I have a painted garage floor and would not have risked getting spray all over the floor. Since the parts are so small there is not much paint floating around. You’ll just spray in short sweeping bursts and you’ll do several small coats with only ten minute in between. I also used a high intensity lamp to throw some light on the caliper which dried the paint very quickly. Once I put on the decals, actually only about 30 minutes after the final color coat, I sprayed 2 or 3 coats of high temp clear over the decals, which locks them into the paint and prevents peeling.

I cannot attest to what the decal are made off, but they are sold and advertised for brake caliper. If there are going to melt they will melt right away so I should know in a few days. Calipers only get so hot. Get hot and cooling then get hot again is not going to be the problem, if they melt they should do it on day #1 I’d think. I'll keep my fingers crossed and keep you posted.

I decided to do the other side. Took 1.5 hours from lifting on jack, to masking, spraying, applying the decals and shooting clear. The heat lamp is the way to go. What do you think? Here are some finished photos:

I prefer not painting them. IMO, a different color would detract from the beauty of the car. It's better if they don't call attention to themselves. Painting them would be sort of like someone wearing a dark business suit, black shoes, and white socks (at least here in the North America where black socks is the norm). Painted calipers also give the impression of "trying too hard to look cool", which is something the G35 doesn't need to do. I recall my wife seeing painted calipers on a friend's car and she was thinking "why couldn't they order the right color caliper for their car"? I had to explain that it was intended to be "cool".

It'd be cool if it said "Brembo" and had drilled rotors.

Other than that, I dont' really like.

Thanks guys. It's not for everyone but it's a pretty mild change.

Painting was very simple. Whether you use decals or not I think painting will keep the calipers cleaner. I was beginning to get a lot of brake dust build up on the surface and it did not wash off. It almost etched the original surface. I think they will wash off fairly easily now.
