need to refill tank back to 1/4.. went to a gas station, and looked like a dumb ***.. tried to push the cover open, didnt work. went to the driverside to look for a switch/lever and didn't see it near the seat or under the dash.

im freaking retarded or what.

anyone know where it is?

 

no switch or lever....all you have to do is push in on the right side of the cover and it will pop open easily

 

Press on the right side of the gas cap in the corner firmly and it'll swing open

 

you push on the front part of the gas door but like the older g's you have to unlock all doors first

 

And make sure the ignition switch is in OFF or ACC position, NOT ON

So on the new ones you can't open it with the car running? I know you are not supposed to but now you physically can't?

 

lol that is like the first time that I went to put gas in my car I didnt know that the car had to be unlocked I was about to rip the damn thing oven

 

This is not accurate - you can open the gas cap door with the car running.

 

i remember that first fill up, felt like a moron...

 

Yeah there is nothing like having to each in to the trunk to pull our your manual at the gas station! Remember that first time on my 05!

I think many of us can relate to this story. This is my 1st Infiniti, are they all like this?

 

All 3 G's we've had have been - not sure about the other models.

 

Hah. Same here. On the FX you also press the gas cap but instead of pressing the right corner like you do on the Gs, you press firmly on the left to middle of the gas cap and it'll spring open. When I got my first G loaner it took me forever to figure it out. I was pretty frustrated because my hour drive home from the dealer turned into an hour and a half just because I wasn't smart enough to figure out the gas cap.
