Cool Interior Design Award - 07' Infiniti G35

The G35 just won another award, this time for its interior. Very nice!

The Car Connection

The best interiors in the automotive realm - according to the readers of Ward's Auto World - have been chosen. And among car companies, the Big Three and Honda have plenty to cheer.

Of the 34 vehicles from 11 different car companies nominated for Ward's "Interior of the Year" award, four were built by the Big Three, another one by an affiliate brand, and two were built by Honda.

Votes were cast by both the Ward's editors and by members of the industry polled at a special Web site, www.autointeriors.com, where more than 1400 professionals cast their ballots.

The winners, according to Ward's, were as follows:

Award Category Ward's Staff Industry At-Large Vote

Economy-Priced Car Honda Fit Dodge Caliber
Popular-Priced Car Saturn Aura Saturn Aura
Premium-Priced Car Volvo S80 Lincoln MKZ
Popular-Priced CUV Honda CRV Saturn Outlook
Premium-Priced CUV Cadillac SRX Cadillac SRX
Popular-Priced Truck Chevy Silverado Chevy Silverado
Premium-Priced Truck Lincoln Navigator Cadillac Escalade

Winners were chosen on the basis of comfort, safety, and design harmony. In smaller categories:

Jeep Wrangler won for Best Brand Expression
Infiniti G35 won for Best Interior Trim
Chrysler Sebring for Best Cup Holder
Lexus LS 460L won for Best Overall Comfort

What does interior "trim" cover ??
Did they just give the award for the Washi Trim ?? (or Rosewood) ..... not sure if the meaning of "trim" is the same as what is commonly used when someone says "interior trim"

Have to agree; that is one of the main reasons we bought a S was for the interior. Seats are great; better than my 07 vette. Now that is hard for me to say! Some of the controls are a bit confusing getting use to for a GM diehard.

That's good to hear, no more people will be knocking on the g's interior like the previous gen. I have to agree though, the TL and IS had much nicer interior then.

Wow, very nice! Infiniti has been constantly chastised for the interior in the 1st gen G the last few years, and now they win an award for the 2nd gen.........VERY nice! Hopefully this will shut up the Infiniti critics!

Isn't the interior if the '07 vette the same as the interior of an '89 Grand Am?

haha.... It's a good thing that they can see that I-Drive is CRAP!

The interior in our old Benz was nowhere near as nice as the G.

Even the E350 4Matic that we were looking at didn't have as nice of an interior as the G!

Not knocking the interior design as a whole, but it sounds like just an award for the washi trim... probably due to it's uniqueness.

Do you really think that interior is nice? GM is clueless when it comes to interiors.

Actually a lot of their new cars have some of the best interiors over the past 2 years. They have really been working hard upgrading the interiors. The C6 vette had its interior ranked really good by some reviews.

The C6 Vette's interior isn't exactly a thing of beauty, but believe me when I say it's MIIIIILES better than the interior GM threw together for the C5 which itself was MIIIIILES better than the crap in the C4.

As for these stupid awards, WTF? The Saturn Aura does have a very nice interior I'll give them that. Those Opel/Vauxhall guys sure know what they're doing. Same thing with the Silverado. The optional "premium interior" or whatever it's called puts the Tundra's interior to shame. And as for the S80, I've always liked Volvo's floating center console.

But the CR-V, SRX and Lincoln Navigator??? I mean WTF? The Navigator's retro gauge cluster looks like complete crap IMO. The Escalade's new interior puts it to shame. And the SRX? Oh man, I'm not sure if GM has updated the interior of the SRX since its debut a few years ago, but after being behind the wheel of an '04 I can definitely tell you that it's nothing special. I mean the console creaked when I used the manumatic shifter for crying out loud.
