Angry Dealer scratched the Aluminum plate by the AT shifter!!

Arrrrggg! I just pick up my car this morning after getting a rattling noise fixed at Metro Infiniti and found that they scratched the aluminum plate by the AT shifter. Called them and they said they'll take a look and have the manager resolve it.

Being reading that it is one of the easily scratchable parts of the car so I've been really careful and **** about keeping metal objects away from that place. I am just pissed that they took care of one problem and brought out another. Now I have to come back to the dealer again after going there two days in a row in the early morning...

Annoying, yes, but I really don't think it's very noticible at all.

It's not very noticible. I understand where your coming from though. To baby your car and then to have others not put the care and attention into takeing care of the car as you have. It's very irritating to say the least =]. hope you get it fixed

Actually, when the sun is reflecting from it, you can see it from outside the car through the window. So it's very annoying. My photography skill is not that good to take a picture that shows it.

Hopefully the dealer will own up to it and get it fixed tomorrow as I will bring it in again tomorrow morning.

On a similar note, the silver piece right on the top of my AT shift selector is REALLY scratched up! I don't wear ring on my right hand so it definitely wasn't me. I think it happened during one of those few times I HAD to opt for valet parking. =( I wonder if that silver piece is easily replaceable?

i dont know why people are stressin so much. dealers aren't inherently evil groups of people. they're all humans, and make mistakes like you or i. 9 times out of 10, when a dealer wont fix something it's because the owner came in with a bad attitude.

dont stress over this. the dealer already said they'd fix it. try respecting their word and go in with a bright smile on your face. i think they'll do well by you.

Oh snap! I was going to post about this and ask if there is a fix to the scratches. May be there is some kind of scratch remover out there. The aluminum thing is a cheap piece of crap for a car like this. I don't really know how it is scratched up but it is all scratched up.

Good point, Altersys. These service guys there at Metro are some of the nicest guys around who really takes care of cars. So it was odd to see that scratch there since I've handed them my car a few times already.

From looking at the service manual, that aluminum plate should be easily replaceable.

Now... I wonder if they will replace my pitted grill...

I am quite particular (well okay, I've got OCD) with my vehicles and I probably wouldn't of been too happy either. To me, that scratch would stick out like a sore thumb.

But then again, I completely agree with Altersys.......it wasn't done on purpose and it's not worth stressing about.

Latest update.

The service guys at Metro were super cool about it. They ordered an extra shifter plate for me and will change it out next Saturday when I will have my 7500mile service.

Came in smiling was a very good advise.
