I agree. Wood interiors always reminds me of Jaguars. Nice cars, but typically driven by old men.

I think we can other wood trim from dealer for $400. I don't know how much does it cost for installation. I will check and confirm. I think it's more economic to get the car with wood trim.
Sooner or later I have to have it.

I think you can only the wood as an option of you get the premium package. It also is not available on the sport model. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, as it would be cool to be able to order it later as an add-on for the sport.

My dealer at Infiniti of Manhasset said it could be done.

IMO, I think the wood looks a lot better with a lighter color interior like a tan or cream colored leather.

Is the wood option from the factory an overlay over the washi trim or wood in the washi trim cavity? PLMK

If this wood is done aftermarket then the overlay over the washi would be done and it raises of height of the trim surface and IMO looks a bit chessy.

The wood option is a factory install... not an overlay.
The dealer does have an overlay option, which they attempted to talk me into.
I was hoping to get my G right away but they didn't have any Slate Blue on Black w/ Wood in stock.
They showed me the overlay dealer installed wood trim and it looked like plastic junk. It also sticks out like you described.
I opted for the horribly slow, miserable wait and ordered mine from the factory.
I love the wood trim.
I personally like the refined feel that the wood offers.

Very happy I got it.

I just picked up my new G35 S 6MT with after market wood veneer in a graphite (black) interior.

The "washi" aluminum with graphite interior looked to me too much like Raider Nation. My 13 year old son throught that combo looked "cool and futury."

The after market wood I had installed at the dealer (in Northern NJ) looks pretty darn good. I had a choice of 3 different aftermarket veneers from dark to almost light brown in matte or glossy. I chose the middle intensity in matte finish. The wood doesn't stick out or seem raised.

Wood is not an option with Lake Shore Blue and Stone Interior...Were there other color combos that wood wasn't available?

I love the look of the Rosewood. I love the Washi as well.

Pictures, huh? I'm not a photo guy, but my wife says she'll take some with her digital camera this weekend. Then I'll post them here.

Love the wood

Coming from the Lexus family of cars, I was used to having wood in my car and always felt it provides a warm/comfortable interior. As others have mentioned, I feel the light colored interior looks best with wood. It all comes down to a matter of preference. Here are my pics.

As others have said, it is a matter of preference...but I love the Rosewood trim!! I think it works very well with both graphite and beige interiors. I think the stone interior (which is my least favorite) works better with the Aluminum trim.

Anyway, I had to have the wood - it makes the interior look more luxurious - and I really like the matte finish much more than the shiny plasticky ones in the Lexus IS. I would also add that
(1) The wood trim looks much better in person than in the pics.
(2) The dealer-installed wood that I have seen look very tacky - go for the factory-installed one if you can.
