That's because the Bird's Eye Maple in the IS, although real, is coated in enough lacquer that it may as well be plastic.
The wood in the G is wood.

To each his own, but I like the wood

well, not by default but you CAN add the wood trim to a stone interior. I'm asking because my dealer located me the '08 that i wanted (IP/stone) except he said it comes with the wood trim free of charge. I didn't realize how bad it would look so I gave him the OK for it. If I'm ultimately stuck with this combo can my dealer swap it with aluminum easily? (I'm driving away to school real soon)

thx, but my dealer found the wood and they're installing it for no extra charge. I saw the new black wood trim in the new FX, looks very slick as well.

i really dont think the wood would look so great with the stone.. it would add a little too much unneeded contrast; the AL works wonders with the color of the stone leather IMO

Dealer installed wood?
Ugh... it's not the same and honestly.. it's not as nice looking as the factory installed wood. I hope you've seen what they are installing before approving of the work.
Good luck and as long as you're happy with it, it's all that matters.

yea true, dealer installed wood isn't perfectly installed like at the factory, but since I'm only leasing for 2 years, not a huge deal. The look of the aftermarket wood blends in just so much more nicely w/ the black interior than the rosewood I can definitely live with the very slight imperfect installation...
