Smile G35 Sedan Interior

Got a question, in the g35 sedan's interior.
with the navi you get that navi screen and control.
without the navi... what in place of that screen?
also if you just get the technology package and no navi, is that screen there?

thank you, pics would be great. infiniti's web site only shows the interior with the navi.

You get the screen both with and without the NAVI. The only difference is that you won't have a map, and the control cluster (just beneath the screen) will be missing the Navigation related buttons (Map, Route, etc.). Otherwise, the interior is the same. At a quick glance (without staring at the buttons) one cannot differentiate the interior.

Also, you cannot get the Tech package without getting the Navi.

Thumbs up Navi Is A Must

If you're thinking about getting that car with no navi, you're making a BIIIIIIIIIIIG mistake....that navi is INSANE, sickest navigation i've seen so far, eve tho i dont use it very often actually i dont use it at all but it feels pretty good to say i have navigation lol. and just yesterday me and my friend were arguing about Infiniti's navi and acuras...outcome was that both have same features....and acruas navi is suppose to be like the best navi....so trust me GET THE NAVI

One more thing that no one here mentioned. The screen with the Navi package is a touchscreen while the screen w/o the Navi package is not.

This is your opinion. While Infiniti's navi is one of the best, my Garmin C550 still gives much better directions with a interface that is a million times easier and you can use it while your driving. A Navigation system must excel in one area, Navigation! I have not seen any DVD based navigation system that gives better or equally as good routes as Garmin and Tom Tom portable Navigation units. On my normal trek to our beach house, our Nissan/Infiniti Navi Unit added an additional 45 minutes travel time. They weren't horrible directions, but 45 minutes is alot of additional time. I still use my Garmin for driving directions.

Infiniti navi is good enough for a stock one, so i have no complains to make, and defently no regrets for getting it.

The G35 navi is not DVD-based, it is hard-drive based.

I have to agree, I've had NAVIs in every car I've owned since 2001, and this is, by far, the best NAVI I've ever had.

Another difference between non-NAVI and NAVI models is that there is no phone screen/menu in non-NAVI models, IIRC.

Infiniti's navi is missing the most important feature that all Acura and Honda navs have always had - full useability of all functions when the car is in motion.

Prior to getting my G35, I had purchased a Garmin Nuvi. I still got my G35 with the Nav option. I have to admit, the Garmin has a better user interface, better maps, and more points of interest than the Infiniti Nav.

However, I am still glad I got the Nav with the Infiniti. For a stock Nav, it is very good. Having a built-in Nav is much much more convenient than having to setup and take down an aftermarket Nav all the time. It's not safe leaving an aftermarket Nav in your car. Police deparments have reported that it is very popular stealing aftermarket GPSs. Everytime you leave your car, you need to take down the GPS. In addition, aftermarket GPS makers such as Garmin and Tom Tom actually recommend that a GPS not be left in a car in extreme weather conditions (really hot or cold). I know heat isn't good for lithium batteries. Bottom line is: I generally don't leave my aftermarket GPS in my car, even when I had my previous car that didn't have a built-in nav. So, I would up only taking the GPS in really long car trips where I was unfamiliar with the area. Having a built-in nav is EXTREMELY convenient. So, although some (maybe not most) aftermarket GPS navs have better features than the stock Infiniti nav, it doesn't help if you left the GPS at home. So, any new car I would get, I would definitely want the Nav.

One other thing, as mentioned earlier, is that if you don't get the Nav, then you won't be able to get other options.

Anyway, the Infiniti nav is pretty good. My main complaint is that some of its features (such as searching points of interest) are disabled while the car is moving. On long car trips, I or my wife would like to see nearby places such as restaurants without having to stop the car. Thus, for some really long car trips, I may take my Garmin with me. But, most of the time, the Garmin stays at home (though it is really useful when I go on a trip and can use it in rental cars).

i have a megallen roadmate that i spent roughly 700 bucks on, and it's great, but i still wanted the navi when i bought my G, and i haven't regret getting it one bit. All the extra features on the Navi is nice, I don't mind using the voice command when i'm driving around, and i still use the roadmate when travelling.

it's just not worth it in my opinion. it all depends on what your profession is. if you're the traveler, then it is very important. However, I do not travel very often and when I do I usually know where I'm going. Navi is not worth 2100 to me cause I'm not afraid to use a map. Don't get the navi if you buy the car, you can spend it on more useful things, like all bolt-ons for the car or even a sick bodykit.

having a touch screen can also be a pain because all the smudges on your screen. it's just not worth the money in my opinion. mapquest directions, use phone GPS, or tons of other ways to navigate your way through the roads of the U.S.

agreed, i took the money i saved on getting a 6MT sans packages, and got:

1) Stillen Exhaust $1100
2) Stillen CAI's $400
3) Stealth radar/laser in console $800
4) Custom hidden hitch install $1700 (worth it to me for bikes - once you take the quick release hitch off, you can't tell there's anything done to the car)
5) Custom JL Audio 8w7 sub (in beauty panel, looks stock) with JL amp (hidden in trunk shelf) $1800
6) Licence plate LED's $15
7) 15% Tint $225

Not too distant future mods:

8) JL speakers all the way around the interior w/hidden JL amp $2200 - wayyy better that bose sow
9) Kenstyle body kit $1000 + install

Distant future mods:

10) Tein adj suspension system
11) Jim Wolf Twin turbo if they make it
12) 19" factory rims off either the G37S coupe or the M35S/M45

All this, plus I was able to get a 6MT without a sunroof, roof fin, etc!!! As you can tell, I'm still trying to go for a look that could pass for stock. A really hot/sexy stock, but stock nonetheless. I hide everything.
