I've only had my G35x a couple weeks but it seems plenty fast to me. I can't think of any four door sedans in the same price range that are faster.

Also, if you want to see a car with no low end torque try driving the S2000 that I traded in.

Christ, not another one of those threads.

When will people understand that speed is a matter of relativity. it's subjective just as taste, color, and other feelings the human brain can process.

What's fast/slow to one person isn't necessarily the same for the next. I can go 75mph on the highway and feel perfectly comfortable at that speed, while my wife is freaking out.

I remember when we were dating, she though her 92 Saturn SL was FAST ...

Is the G slow?

Hmmm, compared to what? - A civic or a Porsche 911 Turbo?

The car is plenty fast for me. It's the fastest car I have personally owned, but nowhere near close to the fastest car that I have been in. I am more than happy with the performance of my G.

I don't own an 07, but when I bought my 05 I wasn't looking for a race car. In it's class, it's more than competitive, and it's plenty fast for me.

In my opinion, the performance of the 07 G is pretty close to other high end performance cars. Case in point:

My brother-in-law has an 01 M3 6sp. Down low, our cars are pretty close but as the speed builds, he starts to pull away. His car is faster, but riding in both of them back to back, they feel very similar.

On the other hand, I had an 89 5.0 LX Mustang that "felt" extremely quick (low weight with a lot of torque). In the end, I'm pretty sure the Stang couldn't stay with the G (to 60 or on the big end).

Make no mistake, the 07G35 is a fast car. It is just a "heavy" sedan powered by a high rev 6 that needs to be driven harder to extract the performance.

It's no Veyron, but I certainly wouldn't call it slow. I didn't buy the G for a race car, and it is fast enough to get me in plenty of trouble.

G35x
My Nephews '01 M3 and my brother's '87 Grand National GNX he had years ago all felt faster than my G but this is definitely the fastest car I have ever owned.

Not sure what its called or if its common around the US but we've got metered lights at freeway entrances (typically a carpool lane and two regular lanes where the light goes green between the three lanes).
So I drive up and the sun's at a weird angle at this time in the morning and struggling to see the light. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a Porsche in the carpool lane. I see my light turn green and he starts rolling forward at the same time. So I floor it...and beat him. Honestly, I don't think he even tried to race...I certainly didn't intend it.
Then it hits me; that was Porsche (when he finally passed saw that it was a carrera 4). WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!??!!!? Couldn't stop laughing to myself.
But yeah, it is relative. We all have 60mph listed on our gauges; how you get there depends on each driver.

Slow does'nt cross my mind when driving my G.I consider the engine strong but subtle, it's very easy to get a speeding ticket in this car.Believe me i know, felt like i was going 40 clocked at 67.

i think it's plenty fast, When i had a maximai i thought it was quick enough, then i bought a TL and that was even faster, now the G blows my TL out the water... It's not the fastest thing i've driven, but it has plenty of enough power to get me into trouble. Go down a straight road in 2nd or 3rd gear at WOT and maybe you'll change your mind...

yeah i remember when i first purchased the car i went on a on-ramp to the interstate as i was leaving athens, ga. I floored it on the curvy on-ramp and I was hanging on the road by a thread and i felt like my heart just stopped beating and it was the best I've felt in a car. From then on, I knew this car had plenty of power for me. What's awesome about this car is that it also has a lot of potential to be modded.

I've only had my G for about 2 months, but I think it's pretty quick and compared to my 98 C5 it has better throttle response. I just have to spin the G little higher on average to get the same result. For a 4dr DD it's a kick.

I think you mean the perception of speed is subjective. Speed is definately not subjective.

IMHO this car is quick but not fast. All types of cars are in the sub 6.0 seconds today. I think fast cars are now sub 5.0 second.

G35 are also a bit heavy and don't have the handling to use the speed it already has. Maybe the weight of the hurling mass gives some the perception it is not quick.

All things considered it is a great sedan.

i dont think the car is slow at all, unless comparing it to bigger sport sedans pushing 450+ hp. its the fastest car ive owned and the wieght fo the car doesnt bother me. coming from a 3300 lbs with 150hp (stock) with awd car, this car is a BEAST! its also bigger, a lot bigger!

07 s4 is roughly 4000lbs(the a4 is around 3400 i believe, fwd auto 2.0t. the 3.2q auto is just shy of 3800), yet it only has 34ft/lb of tq more. c350 is 3600lb with 258tq, 335 is also 3600lbs with 300tq. your driving one of the lightest cars in its class, and one of the most roomiest.
