80 MPH at a constant 3000 RPM?

When i'm on the freeway, i'm usually going about 80-90 MPH. I noticed that I'm always at a constant 3000 RPM or higher at this speed. Is this normal for you guys too? I drive a 5AT by the way.

I kept thinking my G wasn't shifting into 5th at highway speeds. All my previous cars cruised at 80 mph with much lower rpms.

7600rpm redline, so 3000 isn't all that high in comparison to the entire rev-range of the car.

My Acura Integra GSR had an 8000 RPM redline and it did 4000 at 80.

American cars are the best at keeping revs low, usually due to ridiculous overdrives and final gears. A Mustang GT is still under 2000 @ 80; the Corvettes are barely idling at those speeds. Most Japanese and German cars rev pretty high even in their final gear.
