Any action or response from Infiniti? I think more of us have to contact them. Otherwise, they are not aware that the customers have this complaint! And they will do something for us but only if more of us take that few minutes to pick up the phone and call!

I left messages at Zenrin and Infiniti customer service. I also spoke with the GM at my dealership. Zenrin e-mailed me but only told me how to find the commands within the Nav system in the car(see exchange below)..the rep didn't even read my note well!!! So I called back and left another message for the agent. No response yet (that was Thursday, 1/10. Hope to hear soon. Remember folks the Map update for Nav is 8.1...if you upgrade you will get this updated and dumbed down interface. The simple interface is good for some...I just don't understand why they don't have 3 modes...Add the full command set back as an option..Seems pretty simple! Arrrghh!

Dear Customer,

For detailed commands, select setting and then navigation. Enter on voice recognition and then enter on voice commands. You will be able to view the voice commands for the navigation system.

I just purchased an 08 G35 with the Nav system. I have the new system that has fewer voice commands. How do I get the original version that will accept more detailed voice recognition commands? I know that the initial production had full commands. I really am interested in the the Climate and Radio as I use these the most.

I don't have a reference for the 07's voice commands.
for some reason these commands dont work on my 08. When i say satellite radio channel 150, only the satellite radio turns on but not the correct channel.

Only the VERY early 08 cars have it... about the first month of production or so

A downgrade, theoretically, should be possible, but I wouldn't expect one. No word on the update... The updates come out slow so I wouldn't expect it anytime soon... maybe 9 months

I have a question about this..and the answer scares me. My 07 with Nav and Prem package is going in for an oil change on Wednesday 5/7. My 'helpful' service rep (I say helpful because it's going to cost me money) said that I have version 8.0 of my nav system and that's the 2006-2007 maps and that they would be 'happy' to upgrade this to 8.1 for 2007-2008 maps for a mere charge of 165 + an hour of labor. Since I'm that guy who likes to have all the latest crap..I said, sure..why not.

Now I read this...so if I get my nav system upgraded for maps, I will lose my voice commands for radio..granted specific temps is not a huge deal..but I am used to it all..finally I can navigate around the car pretty easily with just blabbing. And they would change this on me?

Looks like I will change my mind about the upgrade if this is true..sucks.

G's that were built after December of 2008 come with the dumbed down version of the voice commands. From what I am told..there is no way to get older version.

The current version has 2 modes, simple and advanced. However the advanced are still not as extensive as the 07 model.

To access the advanced menu...go to System > Voice Commands.....and i forgot where else to go from here...but play around until you find the Advanced Settings and turn it on
