mp3 playback complaint

I wonder why Infiniti didn't implement an option to read the ID3 tags on mp3s?

The reason I say this is most of my ripped albums are saved with file names like 01_Beastie-Boys_Pauls-Botique_Hey-Ladies.mp3 (or something similar)

So on the display it only shows like the first 10 chars of the file name and doesn't even scroll it.

It upsets me because on several of the screens like status, and the CD,CF, etc screen there is plenty of space to show the actual Artist / Song / Album info (yes i know you can bring it up with the text button but its useless.)

Anyhow, does anyone think they will ever implement ID3 tags in the main displays or enable scrolling file names?

Also, on the status screen with say navi info on the bottom, i really wish it just showed song name on the bottom instead of Preset A Station 100, or F1 T2, etc..

Does anyone with the IPOD connector know if it shows the real ID3 info when that is being used?

It does read ID3 tags. When you rip your songs, don't put the artist name in front of each track name.

This is just the format that many download sites use, such as Napster. Only way to get rid of it is to rename the file, although many free .mp3-modification software package will allow you to do a bulk rename. Usually setting this up is about as laborious as just renaming individually.

Try this... maybe it will be helpful.... maybe not.

I don't know if this is for both 07 and 08 or just for 07, but looks promising.

I would assume it's both, but it's got nothing to do with MP3s. It's got to do with that silly Music Box feature. For the life of me, I can't understand why the heck they never upgraded the system to transfer MP3 files to the hard drive.
