Another dead clutch pedal

I went to the garage to take the kids somewhere, pressed down the clutch pedal, and it went straight to the floor. There is a puddle of clutch line fluid under the car. I never had any of the sticking problems others have mentioned. Nope. This was a sudden, all out failure, with NO warning. I'm currently waiting for roadside assistance to come pick this up.

I have 8000 on the odo, and no real other problems. BUT, this is a big one for me. If I had the time before the tow arrives, I would jack the thing up to see for myself what failed.

I'll post what Ininiti comes up with as the culprit.

Slave cylinder or an associated line fitting failed. Easy fix, but it's a shame just how crappy the Asisn 6MT is in these cars. Nissan REALLY needs to source out a different tranny because the 6MT has been nothing, but problems. The same 6MT is used in the new Cadillac CTS and guess what, it's the same complaints from the mags. Lots of NVH from the shifter and pedals. Wise up Nissan.

Yeah they need to get in touch with BMW's transmission mnfg, their transmissions are very nice.

They called me at 8:30 this morning. They said it's the (edit) slave cylinder, and since the clutch is drenched, it will be replaced as well. I've gotta say, I'm not happy that at 8,000 miles, there are going to be so many parts unbolted and bolted again. It's never the same as untouched from the factory.

Relax man...cars were designed to be worked on. This isnt no wreck accident. I guarantee you, if your dealer is competent, your car will come out 100%.

UPDATE.....

Ok, it was the slave cylinder. It seems in 07' Infiniti changed the trans so the slave cylinder and the throw out bearing are integrated. They said the seal on the slave cylinder blew out. My car always had that "neutral chatter" some people mention. I picked up the car at 3:00 today, and the chatter is also gone. It's hard not to think that the two aren't related.

I also learned that because the two are integrated, if it fails, you have to pull the tranny and replace the clutch disc, because it's all inside. Not an easy fix.

They are shipping the parts back to Infiniti, to examen them.
