CEL + Car runs great = WTF!!!

I know it is imposible to know what is going on without retreiving the code from the computer but it is kind of wierd that the car is running great and the CEL is on. I'm guessing bad O2 sensor.

Anybody else with a CEL and the car just keeps going?

BTW is not the gas cap.

CEL can turn on for many reasons some of them aren't a big deal, if its cuz of your O2 sensor, you'll notice a drop in gas mileage.

Autozone should be able to run a scan for you and tell you the code.

If you didn't put your gas cap on or didn't tighten it it can go on. Alternatively, it could be something more critical. Remember, if an engine is running lean it'll run like a champ until it goes kaboom. In the racing world, there's a saying, "... it was running its BEST right before it blew" or something like that.

Well, when performance shops tune a car in an attempt to achieve the most power, they do so by running as lean as the motor can, and getting as close as possible to detonation, obviously, without reaching detonation.

To the OP, your CEL may be something minimal. I still suggest you pull the code at a local Autozone

I believe you just turn the car off.

Were you able to get a blinking code?

No I couldn't. I'll try again later and hopefully I'll post the code to see what is going on. I'm taveling tomorrow and I won't be able to take it to the dealer until Tuesday...

Update:

My car has been in the dealer since yesterday. They've scanned the car to check what is the problem that triggered the CEL. The problem is that the scanner isn't retreiving anything from the ECU!!! and yet, they can't turn off the CEL!!! Has anybody have something like this happened? I'm getting worried with this. They are running all sort of test to see if they find something. Hopefully they are able to pinpoint the problem and solve it.
