Maybe it's a safety feature to let other drivers know you are slipping when you lights flicker.

Last night I was doing some *ahem* traction tests on snow with VDC off and the lights dimmed in concert with the slip indicator, especially during turning/sliding moves.
Exactly. With the viscous rear, it takes a second or two for the diff to lock up. Before it does this the wheels turn at different speeds and the car senses the speed differential.....SLIP light goes on.Originally Posted by interalian
Yup. It also proves that VDC is never really off.Last night I was doing some *ahem* traction tests on snow with VDC off and the lights dimmed in concert with the slip indicator, especially during turning/sliding moves.

yesterday, i noticed that my lights flickered in a straight line with ABS kicking in. Now I was on a very very rough unplowed snowy road, so along with the ABS kicking in, the road was bumpy so the flicker could have been an illusion as a result of the jarring up and down.

IIRC, the '07x doesn't have limited slip rear diff.
